My camaro won't start

Yesterday I parked it in the driveway with the steering wheel fully turned to the left. This afternoon I tried to start the car with no luck at all. The steering wheel won't budge an inch and the key in the ignition turns slightly. I tried to force the key to turn but it felt like it was about to break. It's a manual - I know i'm supposed to hold the clutch pedal down with the stick on neutral. I need help guys. Thanks in advance!

Turn the steering wheel slightly to release the pressure off the internal locking mechanism. While holding the wheel, turn the key.

agree with 10forty2. unless you were doing that and it still will not budge then i would say maybe something jammed.

but just turn the steering wheel in same direction or opposite and let us know what happens

I have had this happen too.. Put some muscle into the wheel while you are turning the key. You are not going to break your steering wheel just don't snap your key...

Same thing happened to me in my 99 Camaro.. .. It's funny my Old school father used to tell me to always park with the wheels turned away from the street into the curb in case someone slams you you don't jolt into traffic..

I turned the wheels because I was parked on a slope. Should I stop doing this?

That's what i was taught to do in driver's ed 23 years ago. I'm pretty sure it's the same technique that's still mentioned in the state driver's manual. You want them turned so if the emergency brake fails the car will roll into the curb, as opposed to into the street.

Yes, it makes sense ... but wheels turned stretch a piece of rubber called "bellow driveshaft" if I don't talk nonsense (sorry for my english).
And bellows can tear

EDIT : better with a pic

FYI, you don't have to put it in neutral to start it.

you park with the wheels turned when you park on a hill. still taught in drivers ed: facing uphill, turn wheels away from curb. facing downhill, turn wheels towards the curb. especially with a manual, you don't want your ride rolling away...
