Thermo Images of Heat Extractor

Did mine today. I haven't gotten to the rain tray. I ordered the 2014 hood insulation and won't have it until next week. I want to see how it fits before attempting to finish the underside.

After I wrapped it up a took some shots with my Thermo Imaging Camera. This is for those that wanted to know if it's venting heat. White is the hottest part of the picture. Blue is the coldest. I don't have the hood insulation installed, so the rear of the hood over the engine his showing hot too. I suspect in the summer months the temperature differential will be greater.

I know, I know...My car is dirty. Drove it yesterday.

Thanks. Summer time will be the proof. I have some cool engine shots too.

Also in the front end picture, if you look at the DRL's they are relatively cool. I just switched them to LEDs. They are longer and seem to almost be touching the lens. Some people were worried about them touching. But really not an issue as they burn cool.

Now you pop up! I was considering that. GM is $850+ shipping, so out came the surgical instruments...

Idk where you got $850 (Shipping Incl) from, they're asking $922 still before shipping. You must've gotten a Deal. Still too much thou.

GMPartsDirect. I didn't think I said including shipping. Sorry slightly off... $895 plus shipping. Looks like about $125 to ship. Still too much for me right now, so I cut mine open. Happy with the results. Good luck selling yours. Many are too nervous about cutting so I'm sure someone will take it.

I'm going to try and get a Thermo Image Video at some point. That would look cool. I have an idea for mounting the rain tray to look more factory. I'll share that when and if it works. Mocking it up this weekend. Thanks for the compliments. Rich

I picked up these fancy wingnuts at Lowe's to hold the rain tray on. They're 1/4"x20 thread same as the toilet bolts. They were $10 for all 4. Thought it might look nicer than metal wingnuts.

Agree. Those will look better. I'm hoping to get out in the garage to start working on the underside of mine to mount the rain tray.
