That is about the max power I could effectively put down on the street so far. I'm still waiting on my front coilovers from Strange, but I want to place an order for some new rubber. I cant decide on slick or radial.... 275/60/15 MT Pro radial or a good ol Hoosier 28x10.5/15 bias ply slick....? I dont daily it, and weather here is great.

I'm hearing good things about the MT ET Drag Slick with Stiff sidewalls. Kind of seems like the best of both worlds. A slick without the top end sway...

That is what I have for the track but it is the Hoosier radial slick supposedly good for the manual cars...

Good news. I installed the coilovers in the front and it made a huge difference. I did back the power off a little (about 2psi) so probably around 950ish, but I can easily do third gear pulls without spinning. Second gear will still spin some up top but its manageable and the car stays straight. With a proper alignment, and adjusting the rebound I hope I can turn it back up. Finally, I can enjoy the car again. Still on the 325/50/15 DR, havent tried the slicks yet.

On the street the surface matters and it varies. you can only put so much power down without moving some weight around in the car.
You can pull out some timing in the tune and install a cam that makes more high end power. There a lot of companies out there that are better at that now than there use to be. if you want to be fast, its no longer about power but power management. These LS motors will always make more power than a street car can use. SO, what is too much power on the street. Depends on the driver and tuner. |
