Just installed 3.73's on my V6
Hey guys,
I just got 3.73's installed on my LS. The shop did a great job, no whine at all, even with the backseat down, can't hear anything. Wow, what a difference they make. The car can really throw you back in your seat now! When driving under low throttle the car feels the same, just hear the rpm rising quicker, but when you give it a little gas, it comes alive. This is great though as I don't want it to sound like I am always looking to race someone during normal driving time. The shop didnt touch anything with the shifter, but for some reason it also shifts much smoother. I used to have notchiness when going from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd, but that mostly went away. So I don't have track numbers, 0-60 times or anything yet, but so far so good. I will try to post up some numbers when I get them. |

Are you planning on a tune to get the speedometer back in line? How much is it off?

Where did you get the kit from. And how did it run you. With and without the install.

Richmond makes 3.55s for the auto. That is the only option out there for the automatic. Almost nobody has ran them because people would rather have 3.73s, but the 3.55s would translate into roughly a 25 rear wheel torque improvement, so it would definitely help.
But its not cheap either.

Please forgive my ignorance here... What difference does it make whether it is an auto or manual? Gears go in rear diff... are they different rear ends in these cars too? |

I'm in the swap for about 2k. That's gears, install, and tune. The speedo was off just over 7mph at 70.

Yes, the V6 auto & manual have different rear ends.

imo, i wouldnt go 3.55. I'd rather change the rear end, getting some LSD in there and put in 3.73s. Though it would cost more, but I think i'd regret it if I just put 3.55 in my open diff. o_o
