Correct, according to the manual, GM says it’s not necessary. That being said a lot of 1le guys still run the SS non 1le ducts. That being said it was recently discovered that the blackwing ducts are larger and better so people have switched to those brake ducts. They require very minimal modifications to fit our cars. I plan on buying some before this upcoming track season.

Congratulations! Riptide Blue is an awesome color. I have yet to see one in person.
The 1LE is a great car. Enjoy it. I recommend getting rock guards and side skirts as soon as possible. Those wide and sticky Goodyears through up all kids of stuff onto the sides of the car. I'm think about adding a fender "Camaro" emblem like yours to my ZL1.

Been looking forward to posting in this thread. Took delivery earlier today, this thing exceeded my expectations which is super rare. Bummed winter is here, but looking forward to the spring / summer so I can really explore the limits on the track. ZL1 rock guards going on tomorrow.
Thanks again to many of the folks here for all the tips and help with trying to secure one of these!

Congrats!
Beautiful car, I'm a sucker for blue. Spend the off season protecting the paint on those rear quarters in front of the tires. Trust me.

Good advice. Rock guards, side skirts and PPF are a 1LEs friends.

Thanks all! Yes, ZL1 front guards are on, gotta figure out how to put the rears on without taking the wheels off...
Do the side skirts really help that much?

Yes, side skirts really do help that much. Even with rock guards I can still hear debris hitting the bottom on the side skirts when driving down the road. The wide 1LE wheels and sticky tires are like a vacuum cleaner on the road.
