Hi,

Deciding between the Z06 or Zl1 manual of course. It seems you can't get mosaic black after 2019? I haven't seen it in person but would like to compare it to black. Also can you get one with no sunroof?
So if I got a mosaic black 2019 what am I missing up to 2024? Just the rear view camera? Do the SS adrenaline red door panels match up exactly to the Zl1?

I really like my mosaic black ss 1le. I prefer it over plain black

Mosaic black is certainly different than black. BTW the black trim (front grill, splitter, side skirts, hood bulge, and rear valance) on all ZL1s is Mosaic black. It looks kind of odd on other black (non Mosaic black) ZL1s.
And yes you can get a ZL1 without a sunroof. Although from experience finding a ZL1 witn a manual transmission and without a sunroof can be more difficult.

The rear view camera was added in 2019 and mounted in the rear spoiler. Since the 2020 model year it's been in the shark fin mounted on the roof. My ZL1 is Summit White. After purchasing the car I replaced my rear spoiler with a Mosaic black ZL1 spoiler which matches the other Mosaic pieces on the car.

I have a 2017 mosiac black metallic ZL1 with sunroof.

You'll only see the metal flake when the car is in the sun or you shine a direct light on the paint. When out of the sun, the metal flake disappears and the paint looks black including the front splitter and side rockers.

The rearview camera mirror was added in 2019 so you're not missing anything other can paint color changes. If you can find a low-mileage '17 or '18, you'll avoid the rear-end refresh. I'm not a fan of the swimming goggle taillights. but then you'll give up the rear camera mirror.

I took the first photo last October when the sun was lower in the sky. It made the metal flake in the paint pop. The second photo is from a typical cloudy day in Ohio where the car looks completely black.

I'm pretty sure It was only the convertible that got the rearview camera mirror mounted in the spoiler.

Gen5DIY sells a kit to add the same GM rear view camera to 2017-2018s, so that's not a definite loss either. It costs extra, of course.

Thanks for the info I thought I had read the rear view camera was added in 2021. That mosaic black in the sun reminds me of that cts v diamond black I think it was called. It's nice to have "something" interesting about the paint. Now what if I want to add the 1le oem spolier to the back? Sounds like it would be difficult to reposition the camera from the old spoiler mounted one. I have seen the shark fin one how the 1le wing blocks it some.
I am sure I want the magna ride. But I like the 1le spolier and possibly wheels but I don't want to lower it unless I can keep very close to the stock ride. I know you would need to lower it to make it look proper with the 1le wheels.
Also super irritated they stopped making it just when I am thinking about buying one. Bonus is I assume less likely a standard used Zl1 was tracked. But I wonder if they plan a gas or hybrid or electric for the next when and when? who knows, but I don't want any electric crap. I haven't driven a camaro since they came out in 2010, I didn't like it at the time but the new ZL1 seems pretty cool all around. The gt350 was too weak on power for me and not very special. Challengers feel poor quality and boaty. Too bad no Zl1's on Turo right now. I will have to go to the dealer to test them out.

If you have a chance to test drive a ZL1 or even a 2SS 1LE for real, not just a half mile away from the dealership and back on a straight 35mph road, you will be absolutely amazed at the handling, the power, the sound and everything that makes an amazing muscle/sports car.

Don't think a stock ZL1 or 2SS 1LE needs lowering, magnetic ride control has a different setup on those than the normal SS with 1LE wheels (like mine). But you'll see.

Please do come back and let us know what you decided and how the test drive was.

I’m biased but 2SS 1LE is truly a nice spot

I have a black camera and rear view mirror screen I have to post up for sale but it’s literally those two parts, Gen5DIY’s power harness, and a FAKRA cable to connect the camera to the screen and it works. I had it in my 2016 1LT and bought a spare pair when I thought I was going to go for a LT1 or 1SS

Both the SS 1LE and the ZL1 are great cars. I have one of each. The 1LE is the best bang for the buck and in my opinion the sweet spot in the Camaro line up. It's basically a ZL1 without the LT4 engine and related parts. The 1LE is so much fun to drive because it is so balanced. The ZL1 is fantastic too, but it has so much power that it's hard to really enjoy it in the same way on the street. A quick dab of the accelerator and you are easily over the speed limit. It sure is fun to experience though.

I could take or leave the rear view camera though. I don't have it in my 1LE as it is a 1SS. I rarely use it in the ZL1. I guess I'm too old school. I like my driving the analog way.

Also, I like the 1LE wheels so much that I put a set on my ZL1 too.

Good luck with your decision. I agree with what others have mentioned. Test drive a few.

Thanks again. I am sure I will test drive one soon. I had my heart set on a z06 and have no idea why I became more interested in the zl1 before I even drove them. But I am still going to drive both. Probably cause I miss that muscle car feel. Sport car too.

Is there any photos around of a 2ss with adrenaline red interior and rally green exterior? Not sure if it came like that. But I kinda like the rally green zl1 also.

That's good. I don't know why some people say the rear mirror camera started coming with the 2019 and some say not until 2021. Maybe it is because they are talking about different models and not just the Zl1
