Stainless

Just wanted to check and see if anybody knows about this. I’m looking to buy some headers for my 12 2SS with auto. I have seen stainless works and stainless power. Other than the name and about two hundred dollars difference is there a quality difference? I’m still trying to decide between stainless and ceramic coated headers. On the internet they look exactly the same.

Both good ,same company the SS works is usa made ,the SS power is made in china . And both needs NO hammering to fit. IMHO what ever you get get them ceramic coated.

Thanks for the info When I was in high school in the late 70’s everybody had trouble with leaks etc That’s why I want to do it right and not break the bank. This would be my first set of headers ever.

I have the stainless power on my 2011 SS auto, have been on since 2012 and they still look great, and they sound good. Made by the same company-stainless works, the stainless power's are welded in China, but made here. When we installed them on my Camaro we had a set of stainless works also to compare and they are identical to each other, can't tell the difference between them, except the welds, stainless works welds look cleaner. The fit and finish are excellent, nice and tight up under the car with NO tweaking and anything, went in easy too. I went with the stainless power because they were cheaper and I was on a budget back then.

Both are quality and the statements above are true that SW are American made and SP are Chinese headers both by the same company. SP originally was a knockoff of SW and SW didn't like their quality with such a close name so they bought them to have better control over quality. SW will have a lifetime warranty where SP, if I remember right, has a 2 year warranty.

As for ceramic coating, my buddy ceramic coated his SW headers with a Jet Hot ceramic coating. He drove for 30 minutes with stock manifolds and shot his manifolds with a heat gun, 500*F. After we installed his headers we did the same drive along the same route and shot the headers with the heat gun, 400*F. 100*F is a huge savings for under hood temps AND they look great still. I too have mine ceramic coated, but I'm running Kooks and I didn't do the before/after test with mine.

I bought a set of SW’s from Jannetty and an the fit was flawless with no leaks. Wish I would have had them coated maybe during cam swap.

Just stainless, no coating. Wasn't in the budget back then.

I have them too from Dynosteve. There is no cause for concern. It is a perfect product.

Does anybody know if, someone makes a ceramic coated header that's coated on the inside also?

You don't know if the reduction of 100 degrees was from the coating or from going from cast manifolds to headers. The only useful test would be to compare uncoated headers to coated headers.

Jet Hot coats the inside and outside of the headers.
