16.9 in my SS, It's stayed between 16.8-17.0 since I've had. I drive like a stupid ass most of the time as well. I have a L99 with with some stuff on it to make it funner.

I had a 3.6 Cadillac CTS before this car that never averaged better than 16.5, idk why but I think it was the devil.

Multiple laps at the local road coourse doing spirited parade laps. I have every fuel fill up recorded. Below are some snips from my spread sheets.
That's not accurate at all I'm sure. If I reset my DIC on the highway I get 30 too. Then if I reset it and only drive around town I get 23. 30+23/2=26.5. But that's not anywhere near my true average. I'll only get 23 mpg for a couple of days after resetting. As time goes on it drops and drops eventually to a semi-accurate 14.5 mpg.

If you keep resetting the DIC you're never going to get the true average. You're fooling yourself. Do it manually by checking how many miles you've driven divided by gallons you put in the tank. Or check the On-Star app to get the "Lifetime" mileage from your computer.

Don't trust the DIC. Do it the right way. Fill up before and after the trip and divide the miles you drove by the gallons you used. That's reality. Better yet compare the two and let us know if the DIC versus some simple math yield the same results. When I do it the DIC is way more generous than reality and if I don't reset the DIC before the highway trip it's way worse than reality. The DIC is useless IMO.

Do you honestly think I let my car idle for gallons at a time?

If not, why say so?

I don't drive "like a maniac", I leave my VTC on SP9 unless it's raining, and typically drive in M (or Sport), both of which garner less fuel economy.

I'm leaning towards there possibly being something wrong with the car somehow. I bought it brand new and have never made over 16 mpg city unless I tried driving like it was a Prius, which feels sacrilegious. Maybe the meter is lying to me.

That's what I was saying. I doubt you're just sitting there so probably something else there. I drive with my vtc on 9 too. Somehow went up in mpg
