I say screw the corvette and just put the damn 5 liter DI in the camaro. The corvette can always go bigger and use the 6.2L DI engine why do we need to wait for a DI small block to debut in the Corvette anyway? I thought that auto makers were out to make money? Wouldn't it make more sense to put the newest technology into a car that sells more units per year to to try to get back some of the revenue for R&D?

Maybe the Z28 will have a track pac and a turbocharged V6. Lighter, firmer and as much power as the SS!

No way, I know that there would be a lot less interest from a TT V6 version of a camaro if you call it a Z/28. Never has there been one and never should there be one.

I personally don't think the Z28 will come out until the Gen 6 Camaro is released for MY2015. As of now GM doesn't have any options for an alternate Z28 engine and the Camaro really can't get much lighter. When the Gen 6 is released GM will have the new 5.5L DI V8, the lighter Alpha platform, possibly as new 6.2L or equivilant, and a twin turbo V6. I'm not sure if GM plans to keep a larger CI angine like the 6.2L around along side the new 5.5L. If they have both I can see the Z28 with the 5.5L (off-shoot of the GT-2 race engine) and the SS with the larger displacement engine. Or we may see the 5.5L and turbo V-6 version as the two high performance options. Of course the ZL1 will have a supercharged 5.5L DI version.

A confused buyer...
I am am starting to get that confusion too, ...., increasing by the day due to the waiting....whats in the works, whats coming down the pike, what other special versions or variations besides the ZL1 will be available soon. Could there be a Z28, a monster T3 Bee, a new body style for the 6th gen, what do they have up their sleeve? Decisions..decisions.... I am sooo confused!!!! My instincts tell me to wait...but I an getting impatient.

i think the z28 should be a smaller v8 than the 6.2 with 350ish HP so its better than the v6 but cheaper than the SS. this will make it fit in line and so people can afford the damn thing. 40k for my 2ss/rs yeah that was a nice penny lol

I think a z28 model Camaro would be a very wise idea. Somewhere around 375hp and some direct competition for the Challenger R/T. It would be a great car,and it most likely would be a hot seller, for those who cant afford the SS,but refuse to own a V6.

I don't expect that to happen, just as the ZL1 had to compete with the correct model, a new Z/28 would have to compete with the Boss 302, so 350hp is not going to cut it.

That would make the Z28 a low rent V8 model or more like just a V8 LT Camaro. The Z/28 has to keep the heritage of the original, a tuned up LS3 (450 - 470 HP) with ZL1 style dual mode exhaust, lighter 18" wheels (get rid of those heavy a$$ blingy SS wheels!!!), and tuned up suspension. Make it so the car is standard equiped more like an LS Camaro for options but allow the customer to put all the heavy power robbing heater electric ashtrays if they so choose. I am not talking a no A/C and manual window Camaro but the standard equipment on the LS Camaro, add special 18" wheels, the tuned up LS3, and a corner carving suspension. Now that is a Z/28 to go at the Boss Mustang.

How would it be keeping with the heritage of the original, since the z28 Camaro which was designed for SCCA racing, and equipped with a small block 302 was never the top of the line performer, compared to the large displacement "SS" models.
