Question Best dragstrip prep and launching A10 with DR's

Hey guys,

With my break-in almost finished, the time to test my ZL1 on the 1/4 mile is coming in fast and I've been searching and reading all the forums, I can't seem to find the perfect way to launch my A10 ZL1 if I'll be on M/T ET Street R 305/45/17 on a sea-level track. Track is slippery tough, but I'm confident I'll get 1.7 60' if I manage to launch right.

But... with or without launch control? What settings? (% slip, RPM etc)

Or people seem to get better results without LC (track mode all nanies off?) but would I launch from idle with the DR's or from 1500 or more RPM?

What PSI do you recommend I put the tires also?

Thanks for your help!

I have those exact tires and with a good burnout, it will hook with just about any launch RPM, any mode including everything off. On my stock car, it sixties around 1.77-1.70.

Oh wow nice!! And how did you get your best 1/4 mile time? With or without launch control?

And what pressure you run 'em??

Only have ran them so far in 90+ degree temps, but have been 11.30s @121 MPH. This is with and without any launch control. Only was able to get a little faster times if I let the car cool down for a hour or so. If I hot lap it, it will run in the 11.40s-11.50s in the Summer. I usually start at 20-22PSI of air. Usually I drive to the track with the radials already on and use these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QBPBLWY..._t2_B075ZBMVF4 to deflate them. I have them set to 20PSI. It's a little trick I learned going off road.

I also use these while I am in the staging lanes as well since I don't run TPM sensors on my Weld setup. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01J580F2K...&pd_rd_w=vAgNG

turn all nannies off and don't use PTM or launch control. Hold down the traction control button for 5-7 seconds until both stabilitrak and TC lights illuminate. Do a standard burnout and brake torque to 1100 rpm and go. The torque management is terrible in 1st and 2nd gear so the best 60' you will manage should be 1.69-1.74. Leave the gear selector in "D" and don't use the paddles. On the settings screen, default the exhaust to Track and suspension to "tour". Place the console button in sport to utilize the performance shift mode. Have fun!

I'll also arrive with the DR's already on the car.. So best pressure is 20 psi in your experience with these tires?

Yes, and the run I managed a 1.72 60' could have been a 10.99 or 11.00 if I hadn't tried the paddle experiment.

Managed a 11.3@126 mph, 1.73 60 ft

Pretty happy with the results! Considering we had temps. around 86+ and a 15-20mph headwind!

Thanks for the tips! Worked out very well... With a Roto Fab cai and a ported TB I think the 10.9 is easily feasible.

P.S I'm trying to link my timeslip in the post but can't idk how to link my pic via a URL

I haven’t taken my tire pressure down. Would that be the big difference in my 60’ being so bad? I’ve been hitting a 2.19 60’ and a 12.5 1/4 at 121mph
