Differences in LLT vs. LY7

So it looks like the head exhaust port spacing and bolt pattern is the same... what internal changes did they make on the LLT? Is the DI retrofit to the existing motor design (w/ increased CR) the only major changes to the design?

The LLT has oil squirters to cool the bottom of the pistons, but I don't think the LY7 does.

It doesn't. So it looks like the LY7 head at least sports the same bolt pattern on cold and hot sides, as well as the block surface. It's unclear if the valve areas are the same.

The reason I was interested is that we have 6 pulled from a solstice out in the boneyard. I was going to use it for mock up of some bits..

If you are just interested in the valves, I suggest you lookup the part numbers for the valves, cam shafts and everything in between. If that area of the head were different, then they would need different parts with different part numbers. You could also look at the Cadi boards because at least one Cadi was offered with both and there are probably some guys at least talking about upgrading.

I thought the Solstice was only offered with a 2.3 4-cyl or the sweet turbo, DI 2.0 4-cyl (LNF).

Maybe it wasn't a solstice then, but we've got something sitting out there w/ a 3.6 from a late model car. Might have been that cady they picked up for parts, who knows.

I'll see what I can dig up on the heads.
