my thoughts....

nothing new.
still cool.
1 pushrod lifts 2 valves.
a tad bit expensive, but they aren't common.
Big blocks have been spinning past 9k for decades

I do find their claim:
Quote:
The unique valve gear arrangement made possible by Arao Performance's patented head design (US Patent #5,007,387) allows rev's to over 9000 RPM without use of exotic valve train parts or freakish valve spring loadings.
to be slightly misleading... as this setup is an exotic valvetrain setup. while shaft mounted needle bearing rockers are nothing new, running 2 valves off one pushrod is not the norm.

cool idea. cool numbers. not worth it for the gains IMHO

If you have cash to burn buy them and write a report with dyno data.

On the contrary, I think we'd all be safer if we invite this company to Camaro5 and courteously ask them to back their claims. We would be expressing curiosity in their product and interest in spending money. Every vendor loves that.

I'll contact them.

Tell you what, you give me $7000, then you can tell everyone you have 4 valve heads, and tell them to call me if they don't belive you. Unless you are going to pop off your coilpacks and valvecovers every day, it is not like anyone can tell.

I don't see why it wouldn't work with the L99. The deactivation is handled in the block (by the lifters). The only issues I see are:
  • That the valves won't match up to the cuts in the piston heads causing the valves and pistons to "interface".
  • If they really flow that much better you may need bigger injectors.

Hopefully the manufacturer will address the issue directly soon, either here or on the Arao website.

Anybody have any new news on these? I'm sure you can get more power for $7k in other areas, but 4 valve heads are cool.

I know a guy that installed these on a stroker small block. The wow factor is there but at the end of the day the car never ran right after he spent sbout 15K. For an all out race app. they might work great so you can turn 8-9k rpm. It did look sick!

Surprised to have found a post on this on our forum. Was actually researching 32 valve heads for a chevy 454 big block and this was in the google search. Why is this awesome you might ask? Although this forum has been dead awhile, I'll try to answer from reading at circletrack.com and a manual from proracingsim.com. It would seem that since there is more volume in 2 valves, cylinder filling and emptying is less restricted. Therefore, you could either use similar valve timing and put a ton more air into a cylinder (which isn't the greatest use of them since after a certain point more air doesn't give biggest gains), or shorter valve timing and shorter lift height which will allow the same amount of air/fuel mixture to enter but allow for much heigher RPM because there is less travel time in the valve train.

Unfortunately, they're crazy expensive and I don't think I'll be able to afford them until I finish school but learning about them has been fun.
