Anyone seen this before?

So I'm not sure if this is a manufacturing defect or just a freak thing that happened to me. I have extended warranty but I doubt it will be fully covered. Anyone got any recommendations on an easy fix? Assuming my warranty claim gets rejected, I'm probably just gonna buy a cheapo aftermarket one.

Pick one up from a scrap yard. Several models used the same mirror.

This is the definition of something to cheap out on IMO. Its features are nonessential. I wish the glass alone was replaceable. The electronic features work fine.

Might be a good time to pick up a dash cam too. There are some that are built right into rear view mirrors.

They aren't expensive from GM anyway. Just get a correct replacement.

$169.35 is not expensive to you? I'd say that's a good chunk of change.

What did you clean it with ? Battery acid? It generally takes a long time 20 -30 years to do what you did in less than 6.

I didn't clean it with anything. It's not the surface finish it's actually under the first layer. Might have something to do with the auto darkening. If you look at the photo, the outer ring around the mirror was not effected which is weird.
