Congrats - that is some serious mods.

Apart from obviously being faster, has it changed the character of the car?

Also, do you mind me asking the ball park cost of that suite of mods? I am guessing at about $10k.

Interesting you added stiffer swaybars with such stiff springs. I also noticed you haven't upgraded your cradle bushings.

Yes it has change the character a bit.......... Jeckle and Hide If you leave the stock clutch/flywheel with this set up it would be just as drivable as stock but with a lot more punch and power, with a huge difference above 6400 rpm to 7200. It will just not rev or decel as fast with the heavy stock clutch flywheel. It is truly a complete new car with the added power.......... I love it.

Mods, a bit north of 10G, the clutch/flywheel alone is 6G.

Stiffer bars - Due to it will be on slicks at the track and the cradle bushings are pretty stiff on the car compared to the SS 1LE and ZL1( big spring/little bar or little spring/big bar). For Slicks the car has a decently stiff spring set up so I put the bars on it to have a little more adjustment at the track and yes to be a little stiffer than stock on softest setting.
Good eye's though for sure.
I did just install a Hotchkis chassis max brace, pretty light and fit perfectly, I was pleased.

Sparco seats, Schroth 6 pt Harness, and a RPM Custom 4 pt cage to help stay in the seat. I did not want to full cage it as of yet, maybe later.

Testing the car in stages to see how/what works as far as suspension components. Confirmation at the track to see which components actually make it faster/more tunable.

With all of the mods/parts so far, the car is actually 140ish pounds lighter. Drive train, counting wheels, is actually 66lbs lighter than stock.

Wow, this looks like one expensive build. I wonder if lighter drivetrain will make it harder to launch, but if you intend to use it at the track most of the time, who cares..

I have to agree on the sway bar comment; you might end up limiting your traction due to having too much 'bar'. If you have the time and patience, I'd highly recommend you try the same track with and without sway upgrade.

Very well thought out build. I'd do something just like this if and when the time comes. Going to be a very rewarding track setup and you'll destroy stock 'Vettes and Porsches.

My only concern, is there already proven experience with this exact clutch/flywheel setup? I've seen folks lose weight here on other cars (not 427) and then create harmonics problems that breaks cranks or loosens the dampener bolt.

It's a first class mod package, well done!

I really like what you have done to your Z/28! Great Job. Can't go wrong with the LS7.

Thanks for posting. The build looks great. Please keep us updated after a few days at the track. If this is durable I may be in trouble :-)

Would you mind posting a pic or 2 of the 4-pt roll bar as well as the source? I'm getting a Cobra seat, Schroth 6-pts and BK harness bar installed this week.

Nice build!

I noticed you're in Texas (Austin) you'll have to come out to one of our track days that the H-Town Camaro Club hosts in Houston. Usually every ~3 months.

I have used Tilton Carbon ceramic clutch/flywheel set ups in 4 of my previous builds, all with great success. Remember, it is a race clutch set up, it is just a bit sensitive/grabby on take off but other than that it is all bonus from there
If someone is getting harmonics it must be from something not installed correctly, could be several things: Run out on bell housing, clutch not disengaging all the way, air gap at installed free height, etc.......
Note i also put an ATI Harmonic Damper on the car due to it revs much faster and will be run much harder than in stock form.

With a small 7 1/4 clutch set up, you almost have to go the carbon version (mine is) otherwise the metalic version is just to WAAAAYYYY to grabby to get the car to drive off from a stop without a allot of RPM and clutch slip. Then the metalic plates do not like that kind of heat from the slippage and they warp. The Carbon version does not mind it at all.

Regarding the stock vette and Porsche comment The car is already faster than either of them on the track with all cars being stock (tires, alignment, etc....)

Thx,
Derek

Will do, I should have the bar next week and installed as soon as it get s here and then I will post pics.
I will also get few shots of the car with the new wheels on it.

I should have a Dyno video to upload shortly if this site will let me do that.
