Engine mods
I have a 2012 SS and I’m bone stock right now. Tryna to get to about 600hp without a super charger. What mods would your guys suggest? I’m not as car savvy as a lot of you on here, so if you could give some detail as far as brands of parts, it would be appreciated.

you may want to look to others mods, there are some good heads developed that don't totally break the bank from GPI out there with multiple dynos on the engines threads that are small bore ls7 type heads that yes outflow ls3 style heads and also make the engine capable of using a MSD airforce intake, and yes larger gains will be had by stroking the engine though it can only be overhoned .020 it could accept some new slugs and bump compression a little. The chase for HP is nice but in reality we are heavy, the chase for Torque one that's best done with a larger engine and a instant gain of 40-50 ft lbs on the same cam....
Of course things like a high volume pump,( not high pressure), a good timing c5r chain and a ls2/7 dogbone dampener would help along with a Mast clearance windage tray,( I had to further clearance mine for stroke), and trunnion upgrade would be good. If you get the Airforce intake to go with the heads you can go 102 tb, up the injectors and pump also if wanted as you can run a lower lift aftermarket cam with the rockers being 1.8 ratio like a ls7 and there fore netting much more lift than a high lift aftermarket cam which in turn can be nice to the springs some. What pencils out with a 15-20% loss due to driveline....well that's going to put you in the 600 range stroked cammed well with a ls7 style stroker cam and good intake dyno tuned and able to run premium. Whats more important...torque. My forged short block came with just the rotating and clearance and some plugging, done up by SAG performance/custom engine supply Jerry on ebay. Shipping was free in the US; cost 5k, and the price rose with Summer.... I use Racetec, and Molnar rotating...Molnar usually makes others you heard of..and yes racetec ..may not have heard of them either...the owner used to own JE pistons the largest in the world ..he sold them and came out of retirement in CAL to make pistons custom for hot rodders out of the cold of Detroit....

I would suggest you do as you are.....asking questions. But take your time and do some research to familiarize yourself with what all those things do. Understanding how things work will save you time, money and disaster.

500rwhp NA is very realistic with a cammed LS3 with some head work and bolt ons. It is possible to get 500rwhp NA out of a L99 with a SUPER aggressive cam, head work, bolt ons, rod mod, ported intake and throttle body, and a little luck. 600rwhp is going to require increased cubic inches, nitrous, and/or forced induction. If you want 600 crank horsepower, see my first recommendations, but even then it's a bit of a stretch without increased cubic inches, nitrous, and/or forced induction.

I'd assume 600 crank would be in the high 400 hp range through an auto with converter.
That'd be a mid to high 11 sec car on a street tire with TC on depending on DA. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Drive train loss on the Camaro is like most considered to be 20% loss for automatic or 15% loss for manuals in conversion to RWHP. SO a dyno of say 500 on a manual is 500x15% =75 for net crank at 575. 600 on a auto 600x20% = -120 from crank for 480 rwhp estimate. And its more torque converter dependent.....heck there are actually (though I don't know if available for our l99s trans), converters that do not lose that much..... and of course dynos are not all made equal. And like Dyno Steve said its whole different ball game if your going for 600 RWHP N/A you would be most likely stroked, tunnel ram type long runner intake; ls7 small bore heads, e-85 meth etc, or 13:1 extra high lift .650 up cam etc...… more extensive and expensive this and that and supporting mods. SO stock many guys will dyno a l99 at 400 crank and get right around the 320 area give or take. Suggest looking at the GPI threads for their small bore ls7 style heads they make now and its results which are nice.....
