Sup my fellow Canadians

Hey everyone i'v been on this forums for the last 2 weeks but just now decided to register.

Anyways. So i went down to the dealership in Vancouver. Payed 500$ for a small sorta "Im on the list to get the car" type of thing. No one knows any thing there. I asked approximately when would the car be out. The guy has no idea just said maybe about 2 months. I knew he wouldn't know the price, but i tried to get something out of him. No avail, wouldn't even give me an estimation. What he did say is that as soon as they get the specs and the price it takes about 2 weeks for the cars to ship in. He will give me a call as soon as the specs come in and i will need to fill out the paper work.

A few things that are troubling me though. I dont have a clue what the price of the car is other then the people speculations of it being sold in US for a base v6 for around 22k+. With that said, since we're in Canada are they gona do that whole +20% tax or w.e they call it over the MSRP? If a base model gona cost 30k here im gona be PISSED. Will prolly head over to US and buy one there then that should save me at least 5k if not more. Guess ill find out soon enough.

I'm thinking base price for the V6 is going to be around $C28,500.
Our dollar is dropping rapidly, now at $1.18 to the US.
If it keeps dropping you won't save much buying in the US.

You haven't been watching the dollar today have you, it's already up 2.5 cents on the US, after tomorrows election it will go up some more. I guess you didn't pay attention to every time there is an election in Canada the dollar drops then begins to recover if it appears the Conservatives will win, if the Conservatives get a majority gov't the canadian dollar will be nearly par. If the NDP ever gets in excpect to see the Loonie worth about 1/2 peso.

GM hasn't set Can. pricing yet. I'll bet they are watching the dollar too.
Remains to be seen if you can save anything by importing.

I'm not against importing.
I imported a Porsche 911 myself last year.

Nah you can still save alot just cuz of the price bump when the cars get sold in Canada. The only thing that might be an issue is, once you go to US you need to buy the car their with Cash or something. Meaning you need to take out a loan form the bank here in Canada and will prolly have to pay like 6% interest. Where as financing for the car would be only like 2% with GM. So i still need to do the math.

Dude, read my post again. It has yet to be determined if you can save a lot since pricing hasn't been set. It may work out that way it may not.
Hopefully GM will price it so it is not worth our while.

How many cars have you imported?
I have some experience in it.
