help check engine light on

hi there. looking for advice here. first time ever check engine light came on. Slight skid in wet, nothing out of the ordinary, 200 mtrs later noticed engine light on. Fans on, temp normal not hot enough for fans on. Stopped turned off. started up again, engine light off, fans off. I did notice the oil pressure seemed to get quote high under acceleration (from 1/4 up to just under 3/4 under acceleration). not sure if this is normal or not, don't recall seeing this before but could be just paranoid. Ideas??

My 94 V6 Camaro has the check engine light come on after the car warms up. My mechanic thought it was the EGR which we replaced and did not stop the light from coming on. I know you can get a service engine message if the emissions are out of spec, as long as the service engine light is not flashing you probably won't hurt the engine.

A Friend's mechanic told him if the SEL bothered him to stick some black tape over the light so he couldn't see it. The mechanic said the car was fine and he couldn't explain the light coming on.

My experience

I had it happen to me recently and to tell you the truth if you haven't found an answer yet. I did an oil change and made sure everything looked normal and it kept coming on every so often but after about 2 weeks it is gone. So in my experience it seemed to be the oil or something to do with it. Let me now if you found out anything else was to blame.

do you know anyone with an OBD II port so they can read the code? i know 5th gen Camaros will sometimes throw a CEL "P0503" for speed sensors. It happened to me once where i had a slight skid and it came on my dash. Was able to get it cleared since it wasn't an issue. If you search this code on this forums it sometimes will turn on after people skidding / doing burnouts.

Do the 4th gens also have this code?

http://www.chevythunder.com/199295_l...uble_codes.htm this will list all the codes, if its just a speed code u can probably just reset it can do that at most auto parts stores for free but get the code and go to this link to verify
