$1700+ quote for 3.91 gears at dealer in Atlanta

Here's the quote I got from a local Atlanta dealer (John Thornton Chevrolet) who was also "referred" on Chevrolet Performance Parts website - as a performance dealer. I'm wanting to put 3.91 gears in my 2014 SS Vert.

$1724.88 - ($900 labor, $126 for bearings, $84 for lube and $460 for the GM gears and $100 for misc extras like shims - $54 for tax). This seems high compared to other posts.

Also I asked about experience and they said they do rear-end work all the time, but have never actually upgraded the gears on a Camaro. Should that be a concern?

I would really like to do this with a dealer to retain my powertrain warranty - I bought a 5/100K. Anyone have any suggestions in ATL and if this quote is a good price?

Note: the whiteout in the picture is from them raising the labor from $800 to $900.

If they've never done it then they're probably pricing in extra time that typically comes with doing it the first time.

Had mine done for a little over $650,supplied the gears myself. There are shops that charge more due to potential problems and the fact that they dont really want to do them

I brought the gears, we reused everything from my old rear end, and the guy charged me 300 in labor.

I called another dealer and they wanted the same $900 for labor +parts. Wonder if the guide has upped the hours. The prior part number covered 2010-2013 seems to be what others bought. I've been waiting a while for GM to update (probably EPA paperwork) the gears for the 2014 model year.
