What to do with cats
I am going to be installing a set of long tubes next week and wanted to know what everyone is doing with the stock manifolds and cats. Do you keep them for just in case or scrap them or is there a used market for low flow cats? This is my first time doing headers so sorry if this is a dumb question, but I have not seen it discussed on the forum.

Plenty of people want to buy them for smog purposes, if you have an inspection state I would recommend holding on to them for emergency (or plan on moving to a state that might smog)

We usually just scrap them. Why create extra clutter in your garage. If you need them down the road you'll be able to find a set. I know a lot of people that kept their stock parts for years just to through them away after they trade the car in.

Thanks for the replies, guys! I think I will just scrap them and try and get a few bucks back.

As others have said, I'd definitely keep them unless you just absolutely have no space. I too was caught off guard when I moved to NY from TN and tried to get through an inspection without them. I must have gone through a couple dozen shops before I found someone willing to "help me out". Otherwise, it would have cost/wasted a LOT of cash... And yes, it passed emissions with flying colors with no cats. Ugh...

Keep them in case you go back to stock. Here getting rid of cats sucks and they want a ton of id. Not sure I like giving that much info to a junk yard.
