The sound will not be the same if the pipes vary in length too much. Keep that in consideration.

Thanks, that's what I was told by Vince @ burns stainless. Also its another reason I'm looking into headers coming up over engine like on off road applications, would be much easier to make equal length than trying to snake around front of engine & no way in hell would I want to snake underneath vehicle.

I know equal length for power reasons on a street engine can actually be a waste, but sound difference from different lengths of pipe does makes sense.

Any useful advise is appreciated. nobody enjoys finding out they fabricated a poor custom header set.

Something else to mention here tying in to a discussion in first part of this thread . video is a custom muffler & exhaust built by jcg . looks like just 4 into 1 headers behind a high revving destroked ls7. Hand built muffler is a twin inlet/outlet case with 4 perforated tubes inside of a round absorbsion material. Sounds like 180 headers. Pics on their facebook page from 2016.
