The entire system is a $2000 option on the Corvette.

sept automobile mag. pj jones and david donahue review the cars

see below who else has discovered it.
http://mustangforums.com/forum/s197-...ml#post6389441

no doubt the camaro is better engineered and built.
its a very rigid platform which provides for a better handling car, however the rest of the suspension does not let the chassis perform to its capabilities.
so why not add a suspension package option from the factory (ala WS6 in the TA). remember the mags typically only compare stock vehicles camaro/mustang. I want the camaro to kick the mustang's butt no questions!

TOTALLY AGREED. Someone needs to "make" a lightweight "Track Attack" version of the SS and then let GM and or tuner shops take notice!!

It will NEVER touch a track-spec Vette (not without at least $90K+ in mods), but thats not the point. Cheers.

Is that for the MRS system or the Bose system?

That's why it would be an OPTION like on the vette. No one said it would be forced on everyone.

But if you do this:

Then just maybe you'd want a better track package. If you just cruise the drive-in's than the base suspension would work. It's called OPTIONS.

The camaro has IRS so isn't it ahead from the get go? why does it need a "track pack" to compete with a solid rear axle?

Because the IRS is only one SMALL portion of a complete high performance suspension. Take a look at the difference between the base vette suspension and RPO Z51 is commonly called the Gymkhana/Autocross suspension.

So jusy having the IRS doesn't make it the best handling car.

Well I have heard the IRS is light years ahead of SRA, so i don't see why it needs to be "fixed" with a track package.

Adding a track package suggests that GM needs to add components to keep up. From a marketing perspective, there's simply no justification for such an addition because sales and performance numbers still leave competitors in the dust. Besides, racecars are wonderful, but we want GM to sell inspired cars to everyone. If GM starts producing a track package, then many foolish buyers with too much money and eyes fixed on the best available prpduct will buy those Camaros only to hurt GM in the long run with their complaints about a stiff ride. For serious performers, the aftermarket is better anyway.

If your happy with the "one suspension" fits all category you'll be very happy with the current Camaro and will have no need to spend any more money increasing it's capabilities.

But I wonder what GM will do if they ever release the Z28 since the base suspension is so good they wouldn't need to "tweak" it?

Just bring back the 1LE package designation from previous generations. Lighter car with less frills, stiffer suspension components. Problem solved.

The Mustang GT needs an engine, at least the Camaro has the LS engine.
