As long as you both are wearing helmets, you're good for the auto-x. Not sure about the drags....

You were lucky they did not catch you with that AC. You could contribute to someone wrecking their Camaro like that. The condensation drips onto the track & makes it slick. I saw some folks get turned around & not allowed to run last year because they had been running their AC. Please don't do that this year. I love my Ruby and don't want to wreck her!

Oh Stupid abbreviations. That is what I get for looking in on stuff quickly in between things & not reading carefully.

You don't want to go too cheap....think of it as an investment, rather than an expense. That helmet's the only thing in between the egg on your shoulders, and the hard metal of your car hiding beneath all the pretty plastic interior panels.

You don't ever want to need the helmet....but you also want to make sure IF you need it....it's a good one.

I bought a $250 open-face Bell helmet (SA 2010) online...shipped in about 5 days. I think there is a model slightly less expensive than that. Simpson has a couple budget models as well.

As far as borrowing, there might be an extra helmet or two laying around, but I wouldn't recommend counting on that.

I've been running between 11.91-12.10 in the 1/4 mile at my local track. I have a Snell M2010 helmet and a fire extinquisher mounted in the car. Is there anything other safety stuff required based on my times? I plan to do both AX and drags.

Long pants. A fire jacket if FI or nitrous. That's all you'll need

Any suggestions on where to purchase and what brands are best? Is there any specific fire jacket requirements like the snell helmet ratings?
