OK...I'm back. I've missed so much here on C5, so I'll have to spend the next few days catching up on threads. I do have a little information on my car to share.
After losing a lot of HP from the the 9.5" and the 4L80 I was curious to see where we'd end up on the dyno. Owen hooked up the direct port (275 shot), and we ended up at 885 RWHP, and 814 RWTQ (even after spinning). I wasn't really looking for a dyno number, but that's pretty strong to me. I was very excited to see how that power would translate on the track, so I couldn't wait for TCN2012 this past weekend. This was my first time on slicks, and with the extra power I was hoping for low 10s. Unfortunately we had some sort of electrical problem, that turned out to be a loose ground somewhere (Owen found it this morning). I did manage to get it started, but only had time to make one qualifying pass. I didn't have time to fill my bottle, so I was just going to make a blower run. It pulled crazy hard on the slicks, but about half way down I saw some white smoke coming from the hood and let out. I was playing it safe, but everything was fine. It was just a couple of drops of oil that had dripped from the valve cover breather. If my new hood didn't have the vents I probably wouldn't have even noticed it. Since I let out the time was obviously ridiculously low. I also found out the 16s were rubbing the brake calibers at launch, so I decided to call it a day. The weather was perfect, so I was a little disappointed, but things happen in racing. I grabbed my camera and took pics the rest of the afternoon. I'll post a couple in here soon, and a lot of them on the TCN2012 thread. I feel like I've been neglecting all my C5 friends, but the prodigal has returned. |
