Sky, I am so incredibly sorry to hear this news. :(

I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason.. Things will get better, and I know your dream of your camaro will come true soon.

I could trade one of my existing vehicles for the Camaro but I have reasons for keeping them, the biggest is they are all Paid for.. second is, The Sky is so dang fun to drive,(plus it is a convertible) the HHR is so dang Practical (Gas Mileage and all around usability) and the Elky, Well There is just something about an El Camino with a big old 350 V8, 4 barrel, dual exhaust.that just hard to explain (Hopefully someday it will be worth more than I have put into it).

The only one I would Consider trading for a Camaro is the Sky, and then only if it was a Camaro Convertible....so maybe by the time the Convertible comes out Things will be back to normal for me..

Even though my company employs 10,000 worldwide and they are only doing a 200-300 cut, it sounds small when in reality with the exceptions of no production or maintenance people will be effected that only leaves engineering and staff.. which are not that many..(I estimate no more than 1500) so we are high on the list to get cut.
The decision on the cuts will happen sometime in the next 6 weeks, and they said that this situation is expected to continue through 2011... which means this may not be the last pay or job cuts we may see. So even if I can make it through this cut. I will still have to be wary until the turnaround occurs...

This is the second Camaro dream I have had to lose... I hope the opportunity comes along again some day. but I am not getting any younger...
That just sucks similar things are happening here too, hopefully better time are not to far off.

Sky, That's great you still have your job for now. Sucks for the uncertainty over the next six weeks. Hope it all works out for you and you get your Camaro vert.

I'm really sorry you're being impacted by this economic mess, Skyman. You certainly aren't alone (little consolation). You may still have your vert before you're my, or a couple other guys on here age. Hang in there and keep us posted.

I just couldn't do it....

I started to the dealership after work and got almost to it and turned around.. I just could not bring myself to cancel it at this time... I know it is probably going to happen eventually, but I am going to try to see what happens at work before i do anything, I lost my 69 camaro and regretted it and I don't want to lose this one...I am just afraid if I don't get it now I will never get one..
If they call and tell me the order is being pulled before I find out about my job, I will ask to postpone it to the end of April if possible... Am i doing the right thing? Maybe there is a good reason the V6 is on Constraint...

Unfortunatly I had to cancel my camaro order for now, but I figure my situation will improve down the road. One guy I worked with was in his late fifties and found a new job before I did, so while the age thing might be an issue it's not always a problem. Good luck, hang in there.

Let's think of this as a delay.

I'm hoping that the recession will be receding, and the Camaro supply will be ample late this year.

A new Camaro is a great way to celebrate new prosperity!

Check this out and see if you may be interested. Its in Pascagoula Mississippi. The designer 3 jobs are for electrical. We have 3 openings in the controls department but they are not listed for outside consideration as of yet. They will be tho. Autocad is about as simple a drafting program to learn that there is. I could teach you everything you'd need to know in a matter of days.

Thanks a lot, If something unfortunate does happen I will be checking on some of these positions.
I sure don;t want to "Jump ship" before I have to. If they do let me go I get a Years severance pay and I woudn't want to lose that.
I wonder what an Engineering Technician Associate could make there.
