Maybe he's talking about leasing it.

Actually, if you go to an online payment calculator and plug in the numbers he gave, it works out to about the amount he posted. If the car cost exactly $46,000 and he put down $2k, he would pay $662/month for 72 months at 0% interest. So if he is paying $638/month, he probably rounded up to $46,000 but it is actually a little less.

Think you misread the post, the OP mentioned his payment was $465 for a $46k 1LE. It has to be a lease payment since there's no way that is a financed payment.

Ahh, you are right. I did misread the post. Thanks for pointing that out. I guess I will join you guys in wondering how he has such a cheap payment for that amount.

Depends on how much he put down.... $15k or so down would put the payment right around there... but I agree, he's probably talking lease.

I'm thinking about putting down $12-15k for the 2SS convertible I want to get, and I'm expecting a $500 or so car payment.

Yep, but the OP mentioned he put $2k down on $46k, which sounds like the up front on a lease too.

Lease or Buy

Leasing can be great because your payments are lower and normally there is no down payment required. However, you're only renting the car. Insurance is much higher as required by the financial institution and yearly allowed mileage is from 10k to 15k a year. As with the other replies you got on this thread go on-line and read up on the differences. Overall leasing is about 20% of the market.

However, my dad who's in great standing will more than likely cosign for me at the dealer. What will my monthly payment look like after bargaining? Also, any tips, advice, or hints from you experienced guys would be great!
I just moved out of ATL... Hated it... I'm 25 and can finally afford a Camaro as well .

Guy at the Lexus dealer basically forced me to look at leasing only... Told me, to my face

"rather have you in here every 2 years VS 4-6"...

I thanked him for his honesty lol.. I rather OWN the car, and sell it when I'm done.

Maybe not the best move if you just landed a new job.
