8" Wheels Square Setup?
Has anyone done this to their Gen5? I plan to go 20x8 wheels all around and am just wondering how the narrower wheels/tires look on the rear.
Wondering if there needs to be spacers on rear to push them out even with fender wells. Pictures appreciated. Thanks.

20X8?? IS THERE A REASON WHY??
I mean to be honest you will be taking away from the car by doing so. your minimum width should be what your factory wheels are which I believe is 20x8.5, especially with so many wheel options around I just dont see why you would settle on a 20x8 for a camaro which clearly would be best with more traction. |

I'm with Carlos here...why would you ever go with a 20x8 unless its for a winter tire or something? it'll look horrid anyway

Go 20x9 all around if you want a square setup, I imagine you are doing 20x8 so that your tires fit in the front and keep it square, but you can do 275/40 on all 4 corners with a 20x9 rim.
It's what I run in the summer.

I have two sets of OEM 21" wheels along with my original 20" polished aluminum. The two sets of 21" are RPO codes VZP and VZN. The VZP have 8.5" wheels on the front and 9.5" on the rear. The VZN is a square setup with all four wheels being 8.5". The square setup is factory wrapped with Pirelli P Zero 345/40ZR21".
Looking at my car you don't see any difference what so ever. GM catered to the V6 models with the square setup and the V8 with the VZP package, however both sets will work and look great on either.

You are correct. They are not 8.5 up front. But, as others have mentioned I don’t understand why you would want to ruin the handling, braking and looks. At least go with the factory 20x9’s all around on 275’s. This is a proven setup that looks good and reduces some understeer.

Assuming I go through with this, as soon as someone says "Oooo, where'd you get the skinny little tires"... I'll let you know and you can say "I told you so". Thanks for the input.

Ok, ruin may have been used to embellish what the results may be, but, there will be a degradation in handling, braking and appearance. You will not have to spend a grand to upgrade. A couple 20x9 SS wheels would be ~$200 and a new set of smooth running 275-40-20’s would be about $300. IMO, this is the correct, inexpensive way to achieve a square setup. Good luck.

You can just look at a v6 model to see how it will look in the rear with 245s. They are on an 18, but width wise it will be the same.
IMO my winter setup sits inside the wheel well a little too much, and doesn't look nearly as good.

Quick question.......If you have your mind already set on this option, and seem to have all the answers, then why post? Just do it.

But you are right - I have my mind made up, but was mostly concerned about spacers. I don't want the 8" wheel/tire combination to look too "narrow" in the fat rear fender wells.

This is how a 245 looks in the rear
Personally I don't like it very much, but it works well in the winter time. This is my 20x9 square set up with 275/40 all around: This looks flush in the front and the rear and I very much prefer this look.
