Changing the tranny fluid at 30,000?

I am a lil bit under 30,000 and i am looking into changing some fluids. Should the tranny be changed at this marker? I have grinding going into second occasionally and RP synchromesh sounds like a good option right about now..

Any suggestions?

Now would be a good time to change out the fluid. It is super easy to accomplish. Others have notices better shifting when moving to Royal Purple, Mobil 1 and AMSOIL.

The suggested interval is every 50k miles however if you're getting a grinding noise go ahead and change it and see if it goes away.

Manual or auto?

The manual is pretty easy and I would be surprised if there wasn't one. The auto isn't exactly DIY-able as it pretty much requires a lift.
