I'd say it is more of an annoyance than anything that would affect reliability.

Little update : Havent heard from dealer since dropping car off this past Saturday . Gave them a call today and they are in the middle of updating the lifters . On a side note seems Vectormotorsports tune is not detectable if you return to stock before you go in

you guys are brave letting the dealership crack open your engine to replace silly lifters.

i would prefer spending the money to have an engine shop that does this kind of stuff on a daily basis do the work.

and i don't know if what the dealership is doing will even stop the tapping. their not putting different lifters in, just the same part number that was in there to start.

good luck! i hope it works, let us know!

Yes. These are the same lifter but I was under the Impression that they were from a differant manufacture . I have been reading that the reason the lifters are ticking is because its a manufacture defect . Would'nt taking your car to a engine shop instead of a dealer void your 100,000 warranty ? There have been a few on here that have had theirs replaced and have reported good results .

Whats the use of having a warrenty if your going to have someone other than GM working on the car when it is still "under warrenty"?

I haven't read any complaints about the new lifters. If I had the money I'd just yank the L99 out and drop in an LS7. If you're going to bust the warranty might as well go big time!

If you heard this, you would know something is wrong. It shouldn't sound like this at 100k, let alone 2k. Clearly shoddy parts, and that kind of craftsmanship won't hold up long. I'm just glad GM caught it and is willing to fix. Everything else seems to be so well made, it would suck to have the lifters fall apart as soon as they're no longer covered by warranty.

As far as dealer work is concerned, I'm pretty sure GM would do their best to employ qualified mechanics to do this kind of work. And this way, if something does go wrong, GM is accountable and my warranty is still good.

Let me know if you get any affordable quotes on this silly procedure from an outside (and qualified) mechanic....

Had the car at the dealer for 3 days and they didn't hear any noises. I even went there in the mornings to have them start it in front of me. I know as soon as I get it home it will tick like crazy though. I guess I'll have to live with it.

I gave up on my dealer, told him to F-off and that he will by no means ever see me
again for warranty, service or to buy another vehicle.
He's also losing the sale on my friends 11 syn convertible.

I've made up my mind and I'm pretty sure BB will be getting a stage 2 setup this spring.
