Windows open or closed???
Guys when your racing auto cross on big tracks or any track, is there a requirement to have your windows open or closed while your out running. Seems to me windows open would cause a lot drag. If required open I could see that from a safety standpoint if you crash the glass stays in the door vs in your lap, face, other parts of the car, or scattered across the racing surface if left closed.

The ownerships track insurance typically requires windows down.

Kind of figured as much. But is there anything you can do to lessen or relieve the drag caused by the open windows??

Drag shouldn't be much of a concern. The air buffeting is what drives me crazy, at 140mph it's intense and distracting.
Not sure of the real purpose of having them down. I like to have at least the passenger side up.

I always ask for an exclusion on this window down rule. As white SS said, air buffeting is what drives me crazy also, even at 110mph it's intense and distracting.

So you ask to have them up? Are they usually cool with that?

Windows down. The only time I have been allowed to have windows up is if it was raining.
Edit: In Autox it has never mattered. Best regards, Tyler 888-308-6007 |

If you go off track with windows up doors locked nobody can get in, windows open so people can get you out.

You shouldn't have to worry about drag to much anyway. You're not worried about fuel mileage and you're not trying to go down a 1/4 mile track.
Autocross isn't fast enough to worry about but I could imagine how annoying the air is at 110+ mph lol. Sent from somewhere on the road.
