The time and date stamp is when the suspension was built, the production date for my car was a couple of days later.
I know my car was built on the first day, 03/16/2009, and the date stamp reads 03/12/2009.

Take the last 6 digits of your vin and subtract 100,000. That's the number of your car off the line for your model year vehicle.

For example, my VIN (in my sig) shows 105017, so my car was the 5,017th car to roll off the line once production started.

This does not include captured test fleet (CTF) vehicles, though.

I think there's a post around here somewhere saying what the final VIN for the 2010 model year was, but I haven't got a clue where to find it

You can see your date of production on the cars frame on passenger side under the fuse box, very low tag, that is the date and time your suspension and motor was matched to your car. Suspension was built at Martinrea about 12 miles from the GM plant, but they are matched on the production line 12 miles away. F...en crasy to to that without any errors....
Amazing - indeed you have to see it to believe it! And they take the doors off only to reattach them sometime later in the process - exactly in the order they were taken off. Plus they are building Buick Regals on the same line as the Camaro hardtops & convertibles. Boggles the mind how it all can be done without errors - smart people & smart computers!

Very cool! Saw your beautiful ride in Oshawa scruffyluv, iirc!

This is normal, I toured Martinrea on Sat. 6/11 - though I can't remember the exact procedure (sorry George!), the white tag is used to cover the yellow one when one of the last processes is complete before the suspension is shipped by truck over to the Oshawa plant. Because of just in time assembly, neither Martinrea nor Oshawa stores assembled suspensions - so our tags show the time the suspensions & brakes were assembled before being trucked to the plant. The folks from Martinrea said to add about 4 hours to the time on the bottom of the sticker, and that's probably within 15 minutes of when your car's body was "married" to its suspension in the Oshawa plant.

Following the marriage on the assembly line, our cars turned a U-corner, had their fluids filled (A/C, fuel, coolant, & W/W, I think). At the next station a technician connects a diagnostic screen under the dash to the left of the steering wheel - gets in the car, then (hopefully) gets a green screen, not red - then if green, starts the engine (btw, no revving), simple idle for 30-sec, window roll-down/up 2x, turn wheels right-left 2x, & honk horn 1x, taks the process tag off the car & puts the sheet in the bin.

Then the car goes down the line for one more u-turn on to the final line before going straight on to "wheels on the ground" testing (DVT). For those of you who didn't get to see, it's a really cool process!

Thanks Martinrea and Oshawa, You do AWESOME work!!
