Low profile QTP’s - welded
I took my car to a shop to have the low profile QTP’s welded at the bend right before the mufflers. They said they couldn’t do it because the stainless steel of the cutouts wouldn’t weld well to the stock material. From what I can tell the stock exhaust is a cheaper stainless steel so there shouldn’t be an issue? He said he thinks they would come off eventually and that I should use a y pipe instead. I’ve seen other people put them back there so it’s kinda hard for me to believe them. Any advice?

It sounds like he is not confident in his abilities, so it's a good thing you found out when you did. I would try another shop, preferably a race car fabrication shop or a shop known to do good custom exhaust work. Any decent fabricator should be able to handle this no problem.

I had mine installed right behind the headers in the bend there, that is where you will get your best sound, but I have also seen them installed where you want to put them, should be no problem as the tubing is all the same. Like OP says, ther must not be compatent on their work. Find another shop.
