Rear Suspension Help Cleveland Ohio
Hello There Everyone
I need a little help/advice. I have a 13 and am experiencing, what seems to me, odd rear suspension behavior. The rear seems very very stiff. Also, when going over multiple imperfections in the road in a row, the rear feels like it is skipping/floating to the right. I must be sure to have 2 hands on the wheel. I have it set on Tour mode. I have been going to the local car shows looking for another ZL1 in hopes of chatting with the owner. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find one. Any insight/suggestions are appreciated. Thanks, Ed |

Your rear shocks are probably leaking and need to be replaced.

Any time the car bounce-slides when turning is a sure sign of bad shocks/struts.
However, the rear multi-link suspension requires alignment. If it's off, the car can slide on bumps, or if bushings are bad. |

Dont care what he said, I have gone through 3 sets. When they leak they get soft. The metal particles in the fluid overtime lose their properties to take a charge, also as you loose fluid you reduce the ability to compress. Both result in a softer shock. The only case where the struct would get harder is if it were bent. And its location on the Z makes that almost impossible with out bending the trailing arm. I am not saying he doesn't have a strut issue, but the description he gave would not match that of a failed strut, but more of a collapsed bushing in either the lower arm or something else. |

Thanks for the replies. Upon inspection, there is a fine oil mist on the right rear suspension. Also, when I bought the car I found out it was wrecked in the right rear and the suspension is not original on that side.
What kind of alignment do I need? Is there something special for the rear or is it just a normal front/rear alignment? Thanks, Ed |
