wonder if people will start cracking windshield with rock. call insurance company and say rock fell off dump truck..schedule apt with glass company and remove glass ,cut out dash , install hud, then go to glass company -pay extra difference to glass co. for hud windshield...hmmmm .. not that i will do that...

So I found the part number for the dash cover. MSRP is close to $1,000 it can be found online for around $650. It includes brackets and bolts etc... so I'm sure thats why it cost more. So if that's the case. I am out of the game for a HUD, add that to the price of the module and any other items you may need like the harness and controls if they are not included with the module, you are over $1,000 as someone mentioned earlier which sucks. But in searching for the part number I found a PDF that showed the dash with the HUD port cut out of it. and this was for the 2010 model so they were obviously hoping to have it avail for the 2010. Anyway just thought I would share. I can't believe the dash covers cost so much. Too back you cant get just the cover. Guess the best thing to do would be to wait in the unfortunate case a 2011 with the HUD get totaled and you can take the dash from it for cheap from a pick n pull.

Certainly.
I got the part number from the PDF provided in this thread. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69736 "92240645 (BLACK) (BUILT 5/1/09 & AFTER) (FOR 1ST DESIGN SEE 92239053)"

gmpartsdirect.com has that part number for $515.. interestingly, it also says its been replaced by a new part number: 92245012 which only costs $290.... I wonder whats up with that.

Interesting I did not look there, most these sites are pretty close on price, but that's a huge difference. $290 I'd go for that, as long as the HUD unit was still reasonably priced. I'm thinking it may require an aftermarket T-Harness being that the harness under the dash is all one piece? who knows, but looks like we slowly but surely working our way to an answer.

From the looks of it you don't even need that part... You can probably dremmel a hole in the part from below assuming you can get a template in there. I would bet a t-piece won't be needed either unless a different harness is used in the 11's.
Hopefully someone with a 11 will do the ABL dash mod soon and we can get some pics of the HUD setup. |

Spot on SummoneR. I found exactly what you did. Right now the best price I could work up is a bit over a grunion. And as you stated the dash get hacked not replaced. I think it may be a bit cheaper to go with a high tech look new fad trim tach and mount it on the most effective spot on the dash.

I decided to do a little digging around on the trademotion parts catalog. They still don't have the 2011 Camaro, but I found the 2010 Corvette parts.
Parts 2 and 4 are the HUD, and the heads up dimmer switch. 25788254 is the Heads up display 20844868 is the switch Doubt they would work, but the price is around $300 for both of these on the corvette. The windshield with the head up display is like $1000 retail and without it is $566 retail.
