Plates Law (STUPID)

I don't know if this is a repost or if other countys or states have this. The La Paz County here in arizona passed a Law that you couldn't have a lisence plate holder or Trimmer what ever people call them covering the "arizona" on top of the lisence plate, This passed becuase a cop here couldn't tell that the plate was from arizona becuase the "arizona" on top was covered.

Cops looks at lisence plats all the time for many diffrent reasons and if you can't tell tell that the lisence plate is from arizona without actually reading the arizona on top of the plate you take your badge off and your gun becuase you don't deserve to be a cop.

You only buy a plate a couple times in your life and have one in your own car, how can you now know the state its from!!!!

It could be other reasons why this happened in other states but right here that was the problem.

I had to take off my 2 week old camaro lisence plat holder becuase of that. :(

that sucks... do you have the "front license plate" law?
we do in cali but I don't put it on... I put it on when I got it then took it off since it looks way better without it

There are custom plates that aren't necessarily easy to identify as an Arizona license plate. In California, we have a plate with palm trees and a sun, and another one that's a whale's tail. Without the CA, you wouldn't be able to tell it was a CA plate.

I feel bad for you, but I can see both sides of the argument here.

no, AZ doesn't have a front plate law (at least not when i lived there)
i don't think many cops here care that you do or don't have one on the front, a few months after my grandpa got his S2000 a cop pulled up beside him and said "You know you don't have a front plate right?" and when he said yes the cop just drove away

No we don't have a front lisence plate law, but i bet we will soon. Just a matter of time.

When its just the lame lisence plate by its self it looks boring, I ordered a License plate holder from the chevy deal becuase the auto store here have horrable ones like nopi, nos and all that ricer stuff, My plate cost me 40 bucks and now i might just hang in my garage.

Just a warning, they are actively enforcing this new law in PHX.

Yesterday morning on the I-10 westbound, on my drive home from work, 3 motorcycle cops passed me on my left and pulled 2 people over. No one was speeding (60-65) they were both going slightly slower than me. Both of the cars pulled over had "illegal" license plate frames. That is the only reason i could think of for them getting pulled over. It's a $135 ticket and easy revenue for the highway guys. I was not happy I had to take off my USMC plate frame.

Just take off the front license plate and keep the frame. Simple fix. You won't get a ticket as there's no front license plate law.

This sounds like a really stupid law to me. Get a petition going and see if you can get it changed.

we cant have those plastic clear covers on our plates

its only there to protect the plate.

and why do we need lights on the rear bumper. if the cop is behind you. his headlights will be on the plate anyways

i think it's more for if you do something (like hit a mailbox or something) & there's no lights around, but people who seen it can still partially identify your plates.
