Car is cutting out at 3psi Kraftwerks
Hi guys I have a 2014 Camaro SS with a Kraftwerks Supercharger. It has been running excellent. I drove it today and when it gets up to about 3psi of boost it feels like the ignition is cutting off and then back on and then off back and forth. Wondering if anyone has experienced something like this. I will add my mods below. I think the DSX kit turns on the fuel pump at 3 psi so I tried unplugging it because it goes between the MAP sensor and the ECM, but that didnt help. Could it be something in the blow off valve forcing the TB shut on boost? It really feels like the ignition is switched off for a fraction of a second and turned back on. It was raining like hell today as well. This is the first time this has come up. I was not running E85 when this happened.

Have hp tuners? Or someway to data log?
Has the car been calibrated for that MAP sensor? Are you sure it's been tuned right for Flex fuel? Can you post your tune file? If the answers are no, then you may have to talk to your tuner.

I am sure it was tuned correctly as it has been working right for about 3 months. With the Flex Fuel and without. I wonder if I should replace the MAP sensor as it really seems to be linked to the boost. It is tuned using HP Tuners, but I think I need a special license to data log right? My tuner has it I am sure, but he is in NH which is 2 hours away. Its odd that this just started happening suddenly. I was low on fuel and stopped. The station only had 91 so I put in 2 gallons to get me to my home station. I noticed it a little tiny hitch when I was getting on the Highway. I thought maybe bad fuel so I went to my station and put in 6 gallons of 93. Issue was still there and I tried to get it to go past that spot thinking maybe TPS issue, but no go. Once it hits around 3psi it shuts down and comes back on hits 3psi does it over and over like a really bad skip. The other anomaly was rain. It was raining pretty hard and I dont normally take the car out in the rain.

have you looked to see if the vehicle has any codes in the computer?
VIP auto parts will scan for free.. you could try pulling the battery terminal - after you look for codes. |

strange. How is your battery? I know those can do some weird shit when they are low. Will it rev if you aren't boosting or will it cut at a certain rpm as well?

It seems to rev in neutral fine I havent pulled the terminal off, but it does start fine and runs perfect up to when it starts making boost. I could try a new battery I guess. I have a code reader, but havent seen any codes. I was hoping this wasnt a one off thing and someone else had seen and fixed it

It happened to me once after pumping 91. Once I went back to e85 it was back to normal.

No way and you had the same exact SC right? I dont run E 85 all of the time, only when I want to go drag race etc. it runs great on 93 normally. I have really only put 20 gallons of E85 through it

Yea it was when I had the kraftwerks kit. I mainly run on e85, I only pump 91 on emergencies to get me to the next e85 pump. It only happened once but once it had e85 in it, the car was back to normal.

I am going to try running the fuel out of it and adding some Aviation fuel. E85 is hard to get and 11 bucks per gallon.

So I ran the fuel out and at first I thought the issue was fixed. I drove it as far out of gas as I dared and had 5 fresh gallons of 93 octane in the trunk. Put in the 5 gallons and after about 2 or 3 miles stepped on it and it seemed much better. Drove almost 40 miles and tried it again and it popped still but not as bad. I am a little frustrated since I thought I had the issue solved. I want to try and get some E85 but its harder to get here. I just cant figure out why I would see this issue after running perfect all summer on 93.

If you filled a can with 5 gallons of 93 you likely only got 3 gallons of 93. I always try to do a full fill because the guy before you likely got 87 and you're getting his leftovers too. Maybe try a full tank of 93 with octane booster or something and see if it goes back to normal.

Black Sheep - Not sure, but it shouldnt run that bad I dont think.
Green Hornet - Good point it does seem better than it was. I was thinking of adding some Heet to the fuel for water and then some octane boost or aviation fuel. |
