? for the guys who've modded their cars

I've seen so many combinations out there and I have so many ideas about which direction I'd like to go, but I'm really fearful of pulling the trigger because I don't want to compromise what makes this car the great car it is.

My question is... after modding your cars initially, did it run the way you expected immediately? Did you have to keep making tuning adjustments to get it right? Is there any 1 mod that you would "undo" if you could?

Simple mods completely make this car a different Animal and much more fun. No regrets at all

The mod bug is like a sickness, it got me hard!

No regrets at anytime.

get a lower pulley and appropriate tune to start and go from there...no compromises or surprises.

Go big right off the bat it'll save you money in the long run. I was totally surprised when I picked up the car and no it hasn't had to be looked at ever since Spring of 2013. When it's done right just take it home and enjoy. I want more now but a newer platform.

I radically modded my 1LE and at the end I liked driving my car more when it was just with boltons. At that level it ran just about like my stock ZL1. So I am extremely happy right now. A car with over 600 to the wheels is unusable on the street, and in the wrong hands is dangerous. I do know this from personal experience. And such a car is also is useless in autocross or a road track. The only place it makes sense if you have tires and a complete modded car is at the drag strip. Every one is different but for me my ZL1 will only get mild mods. The stock ZL1 is an extremely well balanced car as WAS my 1LE.

My advice is to mod slowly one thing at a time to see how it changes your car. I think you can get too much of a good thing.

Exactly!!!! Could have not said it better myself. I did all of the mods on my first car and had over 700rwhp with it and it was just to much for me. I am going to do a few things to the one I have now but it sure will not be like the one I sold.

Cia ,headers, cat delete and good tune. Runs great sounds great. All simple mods, 540 at the wheels. Maybe next year add boost and upgrade injecters. My 2 cents.

I know of a fellow who maybe ran low 12's stock and made quite a few bolt on mods. About 600 to the rear wheels. When done, it still ran the same with the same tire setup. Too much tire spin? Too little seat time? There may be a little more permagrin with a better sound. That said, stock is actually a pretty good setup if you seek reliable stability and almost equal time slips unless you are a seasoned racer. And, imagine ... what happens if you decide to "see" what that Hellcat can really do to you on the street. Likely the HC will spin away as you launch. Just an opinion. Don't flame me.

Happy with the mods and tune I have now...no regrets at all. Really woke the car up.

Still debating if I want to add long tube headers w/hi flo cats but as this is my DD, not sure if I want to have the decibel increase that comes along with it.

I actually thought the ZL1 was kind of boring in factory form but I think that is just how smooth it drove as well as coming from a fully built F-body with a 427 and QA1s drag shocks. The ZL1 didn't have the raw muscle car feel like I wanted. I knew right away even before I bought mine I was going to do a full build. Like one of the other guys said above, go big right away. My goal was to get the most power out of the cars factory parts that I could. Also get a dyno tune by a reputable tuner. The car drives like stock but I will say I average 10-12 miles per gallon. Just making sure I leave my carbon foot print.

I'm 800ish at the wheels and no traction issues. And that's on 20's, try some MT drag radials.
