Reversing the recall on the keyfob

If you were able to take apart the key fob (and I just saw a video on how to do just that), is there a way you can reverse the recall and get your switchblade type keyfob back theway it was before it was bastardized?

I bought my new Camaro and it was already recalled and "fixed".....I want the old one!

I don't want to break open the key part (not the fob, the actual key) and see if it's able to be put back on the fob unless it's possible to do so.

You don't have to "break" apart the fob.. the laser cut key is only held in by a roll pin. So if your really motivated all you have to do is find a place that sells the same type of key and have them cut you a new one and just reinstall it back to your original fob.

So now I found this key blank......how would I get it cut? Bring it to my dealer do you think? I can mount it to the fob I have....that I can do, you know?

You don't need the whole fob. Just get the blade. I've seen them on eBay for like 10 bucks for 2. The roll pin I'm not sure where you could get it.

Found the blanks -- the issue now is who can cut the keys for me? they need to be cut with a laser cutter.....I will try to call my dealer tomorrow and see. If they can, I will go and buy the key blanks.

If your dealer can't do it then call around to some local locksmiths.

Here are some pics. Don't even need to take apart fob. Just press in new pin in bench vise or roll pin punch it in.
