Slow day at the Ford dealership - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I drove by my local Chevy dealership yesterday and spotted a syn green blaring in the sun. I had to stop and take a look. While I was there, I took a quick inventory: 2 SS's and 3 RS's, as well as 3 used Camaros on the property. One guy was seen fawning and his friend was drooling.

Across the street, owned by the same parent company, was a Ford dealership. I walk over and see what they have:

4 5.0's (incl 2 California's)
4 2010 GT's (with 0% stickers)
4 2011 V6's
5 2010 V6's

also 4 used GT's (05-09)

Yup, 17 mustangs with water spots, tree sap, layers of dust. And no one in sight. I actually felt bad. It was quite sad, really.

LOL....when I read the title of the thread, my first thought was

"isn't that redundant? Isn't it always SLOW for the Fords?"

It's alright, Ford still made 2.6 Billion last quarter. I think they will be alright.

It means Ford will need to try even harder to generate excitement about their rental fleet. All the magazines say the stang is a better car... maybe the general public doesn't quite agree with that unanimous assessment.

I guess I just don't understand. You say this, yet there are tons of posts saying that Camaros are better than mustangs because you see mustangs on every block. So which is it? Do people buy mustangs or not? I'm not trying to start anything here, I just don't see how you can have it both ways.

Not a ford guy myself, but my local dealership easily has 50-100 mustangs on the lot (none which have dust on them). This information could also mean it is still selling their vehicles.

Ford needs to just change the exterior. The camaro has led for quite a few months, but as the "appeal" very, very slowly subsides and as the shotgun purchases are ending it will begin to level out again....If they ever change that tired exterior.

If I remember corectly they have sold more mustang's than camaros these past couple of month's.

Ford shot themselves in the foot when they waited a year to release the 5.0. Nobody wants a 2010 now, and I can't blame them.

Did I mention the rental fleet? Oh, yes I did. Also, Mustang is basically the same car for 6 years, so yes there will be a lot out there.

I was referring to the 2011 and all the buzz... where is the buzz now after a few months. Camaros are still creating excitement after 18 months!! Weren't the 5.0's supposed to be pre-sold till next year?

People did buy mustangs and lots of them. Then the Camaro came along. "more expensive", "heavier", "GM is in bankrupcy", "compromised visibility for style", they "don't handle as well", they are "less fuel efficient", they are "cartoonish" and on and on....

and yet...

Actually with the incentives they have sold a lot of 2010's. You can get a great deal on one. Now for the enthusiasts(which comparatively are small) the 2010 just won't do. I'll tell you though, for the price you can get a 2010 GT, if I was in the market for a Mustang I would look hard at the 2010 GT. I have seen some steals on them, plus 0%
