If you are curious yourself you can get a set of the rotor calipers for roughly $35 at your local auto parts or Harbor Freight. It's a tool you'll almost never use but it never hurts to have more tools...
What is that minimum thickness by the way. Thanks for the tip on the tool, but I have some standard mics that I think I can use.

If I remember right it's 34mm just check the edge of the rotor it's stamped on there. Most rotors have the min thickness on the edge or somewhere on the hat.

A standard mic as long as it has enough depth/reach should work fine.

Mine were just under 2mm over the min thickness with just under half the pad life left.

BTW if anyone is interested in the 2 piece set up that ZL1-V is selling you can't go wrong with him. He did right by me when I bought his stock rotors a couple years back. We've kept in touch ever since. I'd buy them but finances aren't in favor of it right now.

Well I swapped over to my summer tires yesterday and looked all over the rotor and could not find a minimum thickness. I did not look on the edge though. I didn't think about that. maybe someone could post a picture and end this question once and for all. I have heard 30mm, 32mm and now 34mm.
I measured my rotors and pads yesterday at about 41K miles and made the decision to not make a change until I convert back to my winter tires. Below were my dimensions;
Driver side front rotor: 1.287" (32.7mm)
Driver side front pads: 7/32 (Still 1/8" from indicator)
Pass side front rotor: 1.290 (32.8mm)
Pass side front pads: 7/32"
Driver side rear rotor: 1.099" (27.9mm)
Drive side rear pads: 3/16"
Pass side rear rotor: 1.095" (27.8mm)
Pass side rear pads: 5/32"

I figure I can easily make it to November where I should have about 47K miles.

Man, it could be 32mm. I honestly don't remember. All I know for sure is that I had 2mm to go.

The measurement is definitely on the edge of the rotor. Pull a wheel and check.

If it was me in your case (mine is similar and this is what I'm doing) I'd just run them till the pads were gone and expect to replace all the rotors and pads.

I'm going to start collecting parts before long.

Thanks GM Joe I actually saw them the other day. I am with Firefighter on running mine until I am on the indicator and then swapping pads and rotors. I will probably buy my rotors in early fall so I am ready.

They make a special set if calipers to measure rotors. You can pick them up at the auto parts.

Here's a pic of what they look like...

Just read through this entire thread and got a lot of useful info. I purchased the CTS V setup for my car. V6 and plan to track my car 2-3 times a year. Just trying to make sure I understand before I buy those rotors off ebay (same seller i got the CTS V setup from) other than the RB (which are completely out of my price range) the best rotors to get would be the OEM ones? I.E. the ebay ones referred to in a previous post.

The RB's and the StopTech AeroRotors are the "best" options but like said they cost a fortune.

The stock ZL1 2 piece Brembo with a high quality plain rear rotor Centric/Stoptech 1 piece rotor is the best option for plain rotors.

There's also the options from many of the companies like StopTech/Centric and EBC that make high quality slotted 1 piece rotors. These will be much cheaper than either of the previously mentioned options.
