Dose anyone know if this is true ?

I was at a Ford dealership today and they had a 2014 GT500 on the floor .
It had just been sold .A salesman told me it sold for 10,000.00 over sticker. I said that is nuts. He said that guys are paying over sticker for the GT500 . I paid 5,000.00 under sticker for my ZL1 . Dose anyone know if the ford guys are paying over sticker for the GT500 ? or even sticker ?

That happens with a lot of new model cars. I remember when the camaro first came out in 2009, many dealerships were charging at least $10k over sticker price.

I don't know specifically about the GT500, but yeah, what Rico said.

I paid sticker for my car. At the time, the next cheapest one that I found in the country, and I checked probably at least 40 states, was $2000 over sticker and most dealers were telling me $5000 over. Different story now, bunch of them on the lots, so you can get a deal.

In 2012, dealers near me were tacking on 15-25K on ZL1s.

Part of the attraction and demand is 2014 is likely the last year for a motor as large and powerful as the 5.8L in a Mustang...or at least that's what the guys that bought one told me helped them make their decision.

from what I have been reading 2014 is last year of Shelby. From what I have seen many Ford dealers seem to ask over MSRP for the Shelby. Although with the z/28 coming out at 75K shelby for 10K less can be seen as enticing in price.

There are deals to be made, and there are suckers born every minute. The GT500 is hardly new; I never pay sticker on a new car, so if this is true about the Shelby then that would definitely keep me out of one. I'd look around though, as I'm sure that I could score a bargain on a Shelby.

I almost bought a GT500 last year, but they wanted over sticker. I told them not a chance. They called back saying they could do sticker but no better. I said thanks but no thanks. Got my ZL1 for a little under sticker and it was my first choice on color and options (the gt500 wasn't my first or second color choice even). Both are amazing cars, but I don't feel the Shelby with all options is worth close to 70K. But that's me. Ford guys would disagree probably.

Just to add, I do respect Ford dealers not budging on the price tho. The GT500 should fare better in the used market over the ZL1. I keep seeing ZL1s going for cheap compared to a year ago recently. That kills resale value and sort of irritates me. But oh we'll, doesn't matter if you keep it a long time. Going to enjoy it for now!

^GT500's resale values weren't great (they depreciated as much or more than the ZL). I haven't checked the '13's yet, but the '10-'12s could be had for considerably less than their sticker price (Ford was charging above MSRP for the '10-'12s when they were new as well).

It all depends on the deal. since there is no 2015 GT500 on the radar I have read that the GT500's were back at MSRP to 1-2k over. the 13-14 resale is better than the zl1 as they made less and it is faster. the 10-12 sucks because it is so much less car than the 13-14.

10k is retarded. not saying it didn't happen but I could buy one right now on ebay brand new for 1k under so that guy did not shop. that same auction for 1k under still has an offer button.

You will find people who are wealthy are impatient and have a dealer they "trust" so special edition cars like this can go for 10k over but it is not the norm. My friend who is a sales manager at a dodge/ford dealer sold the first 2008 SRT challenger for 15k over ha ha. sold the first 2013 GT500 that I could have got for MSRP for 10k over. he just know which guys to call in town when something like that comes in.

Here in West Texas you can expect to pay sticker at a minimum. All ZL-1's, GT-500's, GTR's, and Stingrays are sticker plus what ever you can haggle. But if you don't buy it today itll be gone tomorrow!

Suckers are born everyday! If you look hard enough, you can find them at sticker or less. When my Dad was looking for his 2012 ZL1, every dealer in the area wanted $5-10k over sticker. He drove 5 hours away and got his for $500 under sticker. He could have paid the mark-up, but why shoot yourself in the foot?
