Do a Magnacharger or Edelbrock supercharger. Trust me. Our own "work" truck was in the same boat your in. It barely had adequate power when not towing and while towing it was TERRIBLE! Half throttle everywhere just to get it to go.

We put a blower on our truck and the difference is amazing. You have to consciously think.. ok I'm towing, slow down! My wife actually raced a Ferrari with our Jet Ski's in tow last year.. OK well not race just kept the guy from cutting us off in a dead lane.

The whole truck is a lot more drivable and I even picked up a MPG or so. I don't know how far into Virginia you are but stop by and we can take you for a ride in our own truck and talk about options for yours.

Shouldn't that Suburban already have at least at 5.3?? If anything I'd upgrade it to a truck 6.0.
