If you do get AX specific wheels, I have a set of FS-legal Apex SM-10s I'd sell, in like-new condition. I'd pair them with 285/35/19 Bridgestone RE71RS on all 4. I just bought wheels and have too many!

If not the OEM GY SC3 are good but need a lot of heat, which often is just not happening in autox. When I got started a few years ago my results followed the weather. The OEM tires are not great street tires though, at 220 tw barely better than autox tires at 200, if you're looking for a street tire you can autox a few times a year I'd go Michelin PS4S.

There's lots of good information in the responses. Thank you.

As I said, it's been a looong time since I've autox'd. My understanding/memory of the rules was fuzzy. I had forgotten that certain wheel size changes were tolerated; hell I thought FS meant F Stock, not F Street.

Anyway ... yeah my intention right now is just to dabble. I would *like* to compete, but I just can't commit the time or money for now. I think going to SC3's is currently my best overall option (street / autox). This isn't a daily, and is garage kept and won't see stupid low temps.

I'd really consider PS4S for your application. They will be faster at autox than SC3 unless it's warm out and are FAR better in the rain, far better on the street, last several times as long and would be a great tire to have along with an autox specific setup. SC3 are more track than street tires.

When I started out I entered with the mindset of "if I'm going to get beat, I'm going to get outdriven, not beat by a car". Meaning, show up in a properly prepped car, and then focus on the driving. Show up in a poorly prepped car and lose a race by a tenth, and you'll be thinking about that one for a lonnnnnnnnng time. A great autocross tire will make you a better driver. How so? It will grip so much better that it will force your reaction times to be lazer sharp. You turn the wheel, and it will dart to that side. It will transform your car, and you already have an EXCELLENT car to start with. I'd pick up those wheels from DaveC113. You can always sell them later on, if autocross ain't your thing.

I've been happy with the PS4S for a few seasons. I'll probably be going to RE71s next season, but the PS4S will do you well if you want to do it on a street tire. I do find that less than about 32-33 I start rolling over the sidewall significantly, which will decrease traction and risk bouncing the rim on the ground/cutting the tire. I've tried less and more and around 34-35 seems to be the sweet spot. I can launch better with less in the rear obviously. Some courses I can lower a bit, but it seems that I need more support with others launching into a corner harder/faster.

Just to confirm, you mean 32-33 and 34-35 psi cold, right?

I mean it seems to work best around 34-35, even 36 sometimes. If I do a lap, I have to let out 1-2 psi to keep it there. Cold on the first lap, it doesn't matter as much (if it's lower), since I'm not going to push as hard anyway.
