Yes, someone will. This is a polychain GT2 belt, made of a plastic material. These polychain belts are far stronger and are known to last many times longer than standard rubber, or kevlar/rubber cog belts. However, the trick to them is that they cannot be bent backward and therefore must be tensioned from the tooth side of the belt.

Nice looking belt and STOUT looking bracket I might say. Excited in seeing this kit released. Is that a Ysi blower in the picture? What would it take parts wise to upgrade to a Ysi from your base kit?

To swap over to a V-7 YSi-Trim compressor, all you have to do is get the YSi supercharger and the YSi-conversion assembly (which consists of properly sized sleeves, clamps, and elbow - MSRP will be under $100 on the assembly). The YSi supercharger will bolt right in, and then change over the sleeves and clamps for the larger inlet and discharge diameters of the YSi...and you are good to go!

The HTD rubber belt can be tensioned on the flat side. However, the belt pictured is the newer GT2 polychain. These have an internal spline, if the belt is tensioned on the flat side it will bend the spline opposite of what is designed to be bent in and render it useless. These belts are far superior to the older rubber HTD cog belts. Just goes to show that Vortech uses only the best quality parts in their supercharger kits. It also looks like they are using a high quality dual bearing billet idler, twin plate bracket and arbor style tensioner. The more I look at pics of the bracket, the more I realize this is a serious piece of machinery. They essentially took all of the features of their heavy duty race kits and integrated them into a no holds barred street kit for the Camaro.

I too would agree that Vortech has done their homework. I am surprised at the technology in the belt design too.
Is the internal spline constraint only a problem while under tension?
I am thinking of the possible issues that migh happen while packaging for shipping like bending the belt in half to save space and reduce costs. Just wondering.....

The belts actually come packaged in a box from Gates (the manufacturer) to prevent them from being damaged in transit. It should be kept in the box until it is ready to be installed. Once again, this only applies to the Gates GT2 Polychain cog belts.

I'm a little confused by the description. It seems to only talk about the supercharger on an automatic transmission. Is the supercharger only available for the L99 and not the LS3?

It will fit the same on both engines...It just happened to be built and tested first on the L99. The LS3 tuning will be completed soon, and you will be impressed.

That is the way I understand it.

Tuned Kit vs. Complete Kit

I notice that there are 2 seperate prices for the Vortech supercharger; one for tuned kit and one for a complete kit. What are the differences with the two options?

The complete kit comes with a Tuner/Tune and all fuel upgrades in addition to the actual supercharger, bracket and mounting hardware. Typically you would do this if you are doing a custom build and custom tuning etc.

The Complete Kits come with everything needed to get up and running including fuel upgrades and tunes. This is the kit you will want if bolting on a stock car.

Sorry but I still don't realy understand the difference?

One kit comes with the supercharger and fuel upgrades and a tune.
The other comes with both of those plus additional equipment updrages?

What are the performance differences expecting with the different kit types?
With the added strain to the engine from adding a supercharger are there other modifications that have to be done to the to ensure that it handles the modifications properly?

Sorry if some of these questions seem lame but this is my first time considering these types of modifications and don't know mush about the process.

Thanks for the info.

Sorry for the confusion...

basically the tuner kit is just the basics...the actual S/C and hardware...no tune, or fuel upgrades that will be needed to run the S/C properly. If you get a tuner kit you will need to source a tune and fuel upgrades like injectors, boost a pump, MAF etc seperately, which is why the price is lower.

The complete system comes with all the hardware and and all the fuel upgrades and tuning. It is a complete plug and play system for a stock Camaro. This system is intended to be able to be installed on a bone stock Camaro with no other mods necessary.
This is the complete Vortech System:
