You have 2 buckets. One has just plain clean water, the other has your water and soap. After you wash a section of the car, put your mitt in the plain water bucket first to rinse off any loose dirt then put your mitt in the bucket of soap.

If the water spotting is that bad hose the car off outside to remove the loose dirt etc...pull into your garage and wipe each panel with Quick Detailer and Microfiber Cloths. Keep folding your towel to get a clean side and start at the roof and do the lower panels last.

Maybe I'll trim my downpayment a bit and use some of the cash towards a setup like this.

Yeah I love that product. Bought a bunch of Microfiber towels so I could always have a clean one on hand. It looks like someone already posted the explanation.

I was going to say wash the car when it is cool & in the shade. And of course, use ZAINO!!! |

Unfortunately, "cool and in the shade" really doesn't matter much when it's 95 degrees out, like today. Water just evaporates quicker when it's that hot and leaves the mineral deposits behind.
I'm going to swing by Home Depot this weekend and see if they've got all the parts needed to replicate that filter system from the autogeek.net link above.

What kind of towel/sponge do you use to wash the car to prevent scratches?

It's starting to resemble a scene from "coming to america",but instead of someone pulling rocky marciano out of their arse when talking about boxing. They are pulling microfiber out of their arse when talking about washing a car.

3 buckets with grit guards. One for wheels and rims other for water and last for soap with water. Never ever use the water u use for your rims and tires on your car brake dust will scratch the heck out of your paint. Use 2 wash mits never use the wash mit that u use on on the lower half of your car on the top half of your car again brake dust. Get a foam gun and a good quality fireman hose spray nozzle. Dry using a leaf blower then a good quality microfiber drying towel. Mr clean auto dry for the most part isnt very good imo. Here is a good video on how its done http://www.adamspolishes.com/t-Videos_DVD5_7.aspx
