Want to Buy Z28 without air conditioning

I am new to this forum, but I'm an old car guy.

I have recently started looking for a Z/28, and I have couple of questions maybe you guys could answer.

First, did the Z/28's all come with Pirelli tires, or were there some other brands installed as original equipment?

Second, how long do the carbon fiber brakes last compared to conventional brakes, and how expensive to repair or replace them?

I would like to find a red, black, or dark grey one, don't really want white or silver. No air conditioning is a must for me, that is part of what attracted me to the Z/28.

Want nice original condition with no mods, and I always look for a good price. I have looked on the internet sites like Auto trader, and have seen some nice cars, but at this point I am still looking.

I plan to autocross this car, I think it should be very competitive and fun to drive. It won't be my primary driver. I will also be looking for a spare set of Z/28 wheels for autocross tires.

If anyone knows of a car available, please let me know. I am looking forward to joining the "Z/28 Owners Club"

There are two with no ac at www.chicagomotorcars.com

The red one has very low miles on it. I looked at it but ac was a must for me.

Yes, all Z's had Pirelli Trofeo R as stock tire. The carbon brakes lasting, depends on how and how often you drive them. On a street vehicle, they'll last for a long time. The number of track days they last depends on driving style/track lay out..etc. On an autocross car, they will still last quite a while since it is less intense than track days. The expense: plan for roughly 400-ish dollars for fronts/400-ish for rears on pads. Rotors are 1k+/rotors. Dont let that scare you, it should be a while before you replace anything..pads at the most. Rotors last longer, if damage is avoided. I have 11k miles, 5 track days on mine..still going strong.

Thanks for the reply, I saw they have a red one with engine upgrades and non-original wheels. I need no mods in order to race SCCA stock class.

I did not see a second one for sale there?

Maybe I am confused about the wheels, but in the pictures of that car, the wheels look different than every other Z/28 I have seen.

I may be wrong about the engine upgrades, but I see the engine covers are missing. If you have looked at this car and can tell me more, please message me.

Thanks for your help!

The Pirelli Trofeo R are a low tread wear tire, not sure about the SCCA rules, but they might require a minimum of 200 tread wear. You might know this already since youll be getting another set of wheels. Mind you, the I got about about 9,000 miles on stock Trofeo tires, and it was like driving on ice.
-Brakes are expensive as already pointed out, ive seen rotor with hats for sale on Ebay in the $1200-1300 ea range. IIRC the rotors in a daily driver environment will last the life time of the car. Ive got almost 15,000 street and highway miles and my rotors look shiney new, and pads barely look as if theyve lost any thickness.
- The no A/C cars are out there, some stay on the market for a while, others get bought, just got to be quick.
