Here we go boys, a recent quote from Mr. Hameedi himself...
Quote:
Yeee Haaaw!!!! I guess my eyes on 7:35 time wasn't so far fetched after all, as the GTR moves to possibly a 7:14-7:16, could the GT500 take its place in the 7:24-7:26 range... I guess we will find out |

Like I said! "Must be nice to have the time in life to "troll" websites on cars you don't even on and up to stir up trouble!! I've owned Mustangs in the past had no longer "troll" those sites because i am currently running an SS, just don't understand being on a site that you bring nothing to but negativity

Much as I look forward to the production ZL1, I would not make any bold and absolute statements such as those made by Al O (keep in mind guys, he is an exec and damage control is a big part of his job...consequences can be dealt with later and back-pedaling is not an uncommon exec practice) and many of our members here regarding the supposed dominance of the ZL1 over the new GT500...making such statements just open yourself up to possibly eat your words and make you sound like a tool if the GT500 indeed bests the ZL1. About the ring time that a lot of our brothers here like to use as the primary weapon vs the GT500...I would say this (just like I said many months ago of Ford's plan for a 600+hp GT500), we will be in for a shock.

There is a lot of denial in this thread. "It can't weigh 3850lbs, it's over-powered and can't get the power to the ground, the suspension is archaic and it's only good in a straight line, it going to cost $70,000; or the best one, "it probably won't even make 650 hp". I think humble pie is going to be a popular desert this spring.
I think everyone was caught off guard with the announcement of 650 600 200. I know I was, most here even doubted the rumored 620 number. As far as the OP and the question of how the Shelby will stack up to the ZL1? I think both cars are going to be amazing performers, but I think the deck is stacked in the Shelbys favor. At least from a performance aspect. I envy any of you that have the means to own either one of these cars, hopefully I may get a chance in the near future, but for now I'll just watch from the background and hope this horsepower race continues making these cars better and better. As car enthusiasts, we ALL win in the end. |

I like seeing what the other side (JK) is saying. In reality, some of us are Ford Guys, Some Camaro but a lot will drive either. In the end, we are all car guys. If youre a Camaro guy, for gawd sakes, dont buy a Mustang. You will find reasons to hate it. Same goes for the Mustang guys and Camaros. But, whatever brand you prefer, dont be an apologist for either. They are both great cars but as a consumer, demand more out of both! |

The solid axle argument is when it comes to actually being on THE STREET. IRS works much better on the street compared to a solid rear axle. IRS is much more stable on a non smooth surface. So on the street where the road is no where near perfect the IRS will beat the solid axle. IRS has a much better ride quality to it also. Since 99% of the people will not be running at a track with these cars I still say IRS is the way to go. I mean damn, the ZR1 doesnt have a solid rear axle and niether does the Viper. I dont see the GT500 or BOSS beating those. Hell, the damn heavy ass pig of the 2012 Challenger SRT8 handles pretty damn good for what it is too. Dont get me wrong, Ford has done a damn good job on the solid axle setup it has, but I think its pretty much at its limit to what it can do right now.

Wow, just trying to make a point. Ill put it another way, if you are running in the Spectre 341 Challenge, I would want an IRS car to be able to handle the crappy road. Just like when the bone stock 2011 Challenger SRT8 beat a well modded 2007 GT500 in that race recently. Just as an example.

BTW, how did you get "stock SRT8" and "well modded GT500" just by reading the list you posted? |

I don't mind knowing about the other makes, models, but I don't go to the site and thread bash. I appreciate those who are "enthusiasts" like yourself and hope to see more from stangers and slopar fans.... |
