Anyone running toyo R888?
I'm soon in the market for new shoes for the 1Le in my life.. Once I get back from deployment. I've heard good and not so good things about them... But a lot of stang guys seems to praise by them.. Looking for opinions or I'll just get another set of oem's. Or even some nitto's Nt05 or triple nickels (555r)

Suggest looking at Toyo Proxes 4 Plus. Must say PLUS to be the one I'm talking about. 295/30R20 seems the closest match.

295/30/20 = 26.96 OD 285/35/20 = 27.85 stock OD The car would be lower by just a hair under a 1/2 inch. Matt

For the street, also good at the track: Michelin Pilot Super Sport
For the track: Nitto NT01s are a great track tire, I run them. This is an R compound like the R888s, they won't last on the street. They both come in 285/35-20.

I was looking at going NT01s for the track as well, but they seem hard to come by at the moment. In all reality I'll probably stick with the goodyears since 75% of my miles are street. I do hear lots of good things about the Michelins though.

I'd be interested in knowing how the R888's are for some minor street/twisty mountain drives/some track. Thanks.

I had the R888's on my C5 Corvette. I really liked the tires, good all around. Car was a 540 rwhp 416. Ran the car on drag radials at the track, but these actually held the power surprisingly well on the street. Never had issues with them when I got caught in the rain a few times either. I wouldn't hesitate to buy them again.

I got three track days and maybe 4000 road miles out of a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport and the fronts were corded and the rears were baked. Great for the street but they get greasy after 4 or 5 hard laps at the track.

Interesting, I got four hard track days and maybe 3000 miles on my Goodyear F1 G2s. The edges are pretty worn out but still have enough tread to drive in the rain. I run a separate set of track tires and wheels at the track now, so my Goodyears are just for the street. Maybe I'll stick with Goodyears when I replace them, instead of going to Super Sports.
