Opinion on 21 tires and rims
Hi Folks,
I am a new member. What an awesome website. I purchased a 2011 Chevy Camaro 2SS convertible in March 2018. The car is beautiful and I'm enjoying being a Camaro owner. The car came with custom 21 rims and tires which look real nice but the tires are very expensive. I have had many people tell me I should put 20 inch rims/tires on the car as there will not be much of a difference, and I will not have to spend so much on tires in the future. Any thoughts or suggestions on this will be appreciated. Thanks |

What are the advantages of 21" rims, other than looks, in the real world?
I can't think of any. Maybe someone will buy your expensive set and you can get some first rate 20" wheels and tires, break even, and save money down the road. |

First off note that original tires on a 2011 are outdated and need to be replaced, no matter how much they are not worn.
Second, know that when you buy new tires they will be good for 5 years unless you wear them out before that time span. Thirdly, always brush your teeth, comb your hair, and be ready for all the compliments every time you drive your new Camaro with 21" wheels.

I've got 21 inch wheels on my car and I like the way it looks. You're right though, the tires are not cheap. There's another forum post here, https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=507756 that's got info on other brands of 21 inch tires. I'm looking into buying a set of Lexani's since my pirelli's are getting pretty long in the tooth now.

Look on ebay, you can find very lightly used 21" tires in OEM sizes and brand for pennies on the dollar compared to buying new.

21” is considered an odd size. I hate gappage so I went with Eibach ProLine springs and dropped it just one inch. I also just got new P-Zeros for just under $1000 total. Try that with 21 or 22” tires!

I Had 21 wheels and you can actually find nice takeoff tires now from a variety of cars
As far as performance I never had an issue unless you are going to take it to a track or autocross. I went to 19’s. So it’s just up to what you prefer Last edited by 1badchicken; 08-31-2018 at 01:42 AM. |

In my opinion your Camaro was a stand-out with the chrome wheels.

I concur. With a silver car, I had to have shiny wheels. I had my OEM wheels chromed. There’s a lot of surface area on these wheels and I love the results.
