If your weather gets down into the teens you might want to drive something else that day.
Ha! My thoughts exactly. The Goodyears do require full attention when <40 degrees as cold tire temps can be sketchy. Just drive carefully and it will be fine.

Cool

I live in NoCal and drive year round. I'm on my second set of OEM tires.

No snow!

I driven mine in the worst NY winter in history average temps were anywhere between 15 to 20 degrees. Whenever the roads were clear I would take the car out. The key is to drive slow and dont do anything stupid. I stuck to local roads and once drove on the highway in the middle of a snow storm. The key is to keep it slow and smooth no abrupt maneuvers. If you do that you'll be fine.

All this advice to drive slow and take in it easy in cold temps is all well and good but in reality how many of us can really keep our foot out of the gas in this car? I know my level of self-control goes down several notches when I get behind the wheel of my car. I'd rather park it for the winter than have to drive it like a granny.

So knowing my weakness and at the same time not wanting to seriously hurt myself or damage my car because of it, I invested in an extra set of wheels and some good high performance cold weather tires. To know I can safely drive my car the same at 30 degrees as I can at 70 degrees has been well worth the the investment I made in winter wheels and tires.

I'm currently living in Idaho, I have orders to Florida and leave in a month, so I sold my DD. I drive my car everyday to work which it's about 3 miles at 25-30 mph and 10 miles at 65mph, it's usually 20 degrees in the morning when I leave for work. Knock on wood, but I have had zero issues or close calls, just drive smart. Now once I get to Florida the car will go back to being a garage queen and only come out when it's 80 and sunny

Thanks so much for this input. I'm going for it on the GY's. Thursday car had 12 miles, today it has 200. Now I start on the 15K miles per year.

Since winter ends end of February for us, I'll never see a flake of snow, and if we do go into the 20's, morning commute only, I can count the # of times on one hand. "Maybe" two-three weeks of mid to high 30's, a.m. only, and winter is done here in 45 days.

I have plenty of self control and can and will keep my foot off the throttle when it's cold or rainy. I'll report back here in March or April on how it went. Thanks for telling me about PTM1 - will definitely get used any time the roads are wet.

I'll be heading into next winter with the MPSS's which I had put on the vette I traded in for the ZL1, and had loved.

Maybe I'm a lousy driver (maybe I'm not), but I've had the GY's break on me when I never would have expected it. I don't like driving in conditions that require me to be thinking too much about my tires. My ZL1 isn't my DD, so I'll just leave it in my garage if it's under 45 degrees.
I'm not getting F1's when I replace the current set.

So ... in AZ but at 5000ft. 30 degree morning/nights 50-60 degree days.

If you have ANY driving skills you will be fine. The GY tires break loose at minimal throttle under 40 and more so the colder it gets, just be smart, (and skillful) know the car will break loose and plan accordingly.

Not really difficult, if you can't control this car when/if it breaks loose maybe you should get in to a different car. IMHO

It can break loose when you brake also.

Via lightning from a large Hammer.

I think I have SOME driving skills, but clearly not as much as an expert. Thanks for the lesson....I'm sure I'll be fine now.

You spent 60k or so on your car. Invest in some all weather tires. Simple as that. It's a huge mistake otherwise.
