Oil Cooler Delete Question

I recently bought an aftermarket oil cooler but the lines will not clear the factory oil cooler. Is there anyone who can walk me through how to remove the factory oil cooler and cap off what needs to be capped off. Cannot seem to find any DIY threads on this.

There's a thread around here explaining why the factory oil cooler is ineffective I just can't remember where I've seen it. The guy was setting up his L99 Camaro for road-racing and got into quite a bit detail on aftermarket trans and oil coolers. Basically, because the factory oil cooler is cooled with engine coolant you can never really bring the oil temp down below the temp of the antifreeze. It's a better option to get a separate cooler for each so that you can directly use airflow.

I understand that the track guys will pretty much always upgrade something from OEM. My DD has no issues, and no plans for tracking at this time, OEM is great. Need some more info on why the upgrade from the 0P!

According to my oil temp gauge, assuming it's remotely accurate, I was hitting maybe 260-270 at VIR this past weekend for a 25 minute session. That seemed more than comfortable enough. Of course the ambient temp was around 65*F.

BoWhite deleted his. It's documented in one of his threads.

I've seen where the stock fitting in the block is difficult (impossible) to remove without the aluminum threads coming out with the fitting. That would be a MAJOR show stopper, in the middle of an "easy" mod. Look before you leap!
